[00:00:20] going to tell you 10 benefits of the art therapy and the relevant exercises.

[00:00:27] Let's start that. First thing I want to tell you, the principles, basic principles, core

[00:00:37] principles which is the foundation of doing any exercise. What are those principles? Principles

[00:00:45] are very simple and related to the art exercise only. First one is a mindful expression,

[00:00:53] that's really important. So being mindful and expressing yourself fully. The second

[00:00:59] principle is creativity and imagination. That takes its own time but more you can be creative,

[00:01:07] more you can free your thoughts and use your imagination that is really helpful to bring out

[00:01:14] your best self. The third one is a symbolic representation. Being more descriptive

[00:01:22] and using a different symbolic languages really helps to depict your emotions the way

[00:01:29] you are really feeling. So these are the top three principles which you need to use it while

[00:01:36] doing these exercise. So let's start with the top 10 benefits of the art therapy. The number

[00:01:43] one is a stress reduction. We all know any form of the art activities help with respect to

[00:01:51] the stress reduction but when it comes to the art using as a therapy, it's having a very

[00:01:58] specific benefits with respect to the stress relief. Now how we can realize those benefits

[00:02:05] that I'm going to cover within the exercise. So exercises create a stress relief collage by

[00:02:13] tearing or cutting out the images from the magazine or the newspaper that represents your stresses.

[00:02:23] Your stresses can be anything right which can trigger you stress then arrange them on the

[00:02:31] piece of paper and covering them with the soothing colors and the patterns. You are free to use any

[00:02:38] patterns or any colors or any brushes but ensure you are clear about your stresses which really

[00:02:47] trigger your stress. Sometimes you know simple stresses can be deadline right or another stresses

[00:02:58] can be maybe your superior or your boss or it can be situational like you have to be social in

[00:03:05] the public or simply you know something challenging is coming up. So you can just create a collage

[00:03:12] around that and put that you know over the paper that is exercise for the stress reduction.

[00:03:18] The second one is benefits is emotional expression. The more you express yourself emotionally,

[00:03:27] you heal. So what is the exercise for this? Create a emotion wheel by drawing or painting different

[00:03:34] colors and different shapes to represent various emotions. Use the wheel to identify and explore your

[00:03:42] current feeling. You can do it in any way circular way or you can just you know use the brush

[00:03:50] to create that but ensure you are depicting a different emotions and you are exploring your

[00:03:56] current feeling. So that is for the emotional expression. The third one is a self exploration.

[00:04:03] Self exploration is about discovering about yourself right so exercises create a visual

[00:04:11] journal by drawing or painting images that represents significant events or memories or

[00:04:18] the feelings around you. Use the journal as a tool for self exploration or the introspection.

[00:04:27] So you can use this exercise as a discovery also to know more about or for the introspection

[00:04:34] also right what is going on or what happened so it will really help you to give you the clarity.

[00:04:42] Now benefit number four is the improvement in a mood.

[00:04:48] Art really helps to improve the mood. Any painting you try it any you know even with the happiness

[00:04:54] theme also it really helps to improve your mood but for specific you know if you are really going

[00:05:00] through certain maybe you know critical emotions so what you can do? You can paint a gratitude tree

[00:05:08] by drawing a tree trunk and the branches on a canvas and then adding color sleeves with words

[00:05:16] or the images represent things you are grateful for right. So you can write it in the words

[00:05:26] or you can hear mix that with the collage technique and then you can put the pictures for the you

[00:05:33] things you are grateful for. Remember these exercise we are doing as a therapy.

[00:05:40] So do not worry about the outcome or do not worry about you know you are going to frame it.

[00:05:46] This is just for your exploration or for you know inner work. Another exercise you know with the

[00:05:55] you can just create a simple branch also and the floral you know especially blossoming flowers

[00:06:02] and you can write or specific words around that. So it will help you to introspect and also

[00:06:09] discover the things which you are grateful for. So it will really boost your mood.

[00:06:14] Now fifth benefit is a enhanced self-steam. So for that exercises create a formation,

[00:06:23] mandla or you can use you know different techniques also which is equivalent to mandla

[00:06:30] by drawing or painting positive affirmations in the circular pattern and focus on the words or

[00:06:36] phrases that promote self-love or the acceptance right. So while doing this you will be

[00:06:46] literally flowing with your emotions and you can use the colors you really want to represent

[00:06:52] yourself with respect to self-love and the self-acceptance. And while you know writing that use

[00:07:00] the affirmation positive affirmation. So how you can define those affirmations? You might be having

[00:07:07] some you know critical affirmation or the critical inner you know inner critic which keeps telling

[00:07:14] you certain things like I am not good enough or this is not for me or something like that.

[00:07:20] So you create affirmation to empower yourself right. I am sufficient time enough, I am capable or

[00:07:29] I am beautiful whatever your you know opposite or negative belief you have it you create a

[00:07:35] empowering affirmation for that and use that in your painting. So that is will help you to enhance

[00:07:43] your self-esteem and always remember these exercise you have to repeat it time to time.

[00:07:49] Now next one is a emotional release. So emotional release is another benefits of the art therapy

[00:07:56] which is really help you to come out of your hidden fears or the hidden trauma maybe which you are

[00:08:03] carrying from the long time. So what is exercise for this? Exercise is very simple use expressive

[00:08:10] painting to release your emotions by painting freely and intuitively. Allowing emotions to flow

[00:08:18] onto the canvas without judgment or any censorship and it is not necessary you have to be very

[00:08:26] artistic about that. You just you know try to express yourself over the canvas or your inner state

[00:08:36] you can represent that over the paper. So that is called the highly expressive printing to release

[00:08:42] those specific emotions right. Benefit number seven is improved coping skills. Art therapy

[00:08:50] really helps in this area so exercises create a coping skills toolbox by drawing or painting is

[00:08:57] not not that represent different coping strategies such as deep breathing mindfulness grounding techniques

[00:09:05] so you can keep a toolbox or I would call it like you can keep or have maybe some small

[00:09:12] idea or something like that where you can deal with the coping strategy because she is a

[00:09:18] image around her so that whenever you are going through this stress or any critical emotions

[00:09:24] you can go through that. So you have some new practices because what happens when we are really

[00:09:30] stressful or anxiety situation. In that situation all those written information and written

[00:09:41] toolbox etc really helps you everything your submit should have the practice. So now

[00:09:46] Penetration number is a immense communication. So art is a very visual video of the communication.

[00:09:55] There are many situations which we feel you know we cannot tell to everybody but

[00:10:02] over the paper or the canvas you can express that. So it is help you to express yourself fully

[00:10:09] and it helps you with respect to your enhanced communication also. Now what is exercise?

[00:10:15] Exercise is create a collaborative art piece why working on the painting or drawing with your

[00:10:22] partner or your kid or within your circle. Use art making as the way to communicate your thoughts

[00:10:30] feelings and ideas without words so that really helps with respect to your you know collaboration

[00:10:37] skills also and also intercommunication that also helps. So you can use this technique within

[00:10:44] your family and outside your family or within your teams also to you know bring out more communication

[00:10:51] communicative environment open environment. Now benefit number nine is a mindfulness and presence.

[00:10:59] So art therapy really helps you you know to ground yourself and to be allowing you in the flow

[00:11:05] state and also being in the present in the moment. So what is exercise? Exercise is practice mindful

[00:11:12] drawing by focusing on the sensory experience of drawing such as a feel of the pencil or feel

[00:11:21] of the brush feeling of the canvas or mixing the color and really you know getting into that

[00:11:30] you know getting connected with that process. So art really help you with respect to bring

[00:11:37] the focus back also whatever is going on in your life during that time you will be present

[00:11:45] by doing that process because it is more on the process based. Now what is a benefit number 10

[00:11:52] benefit number 10 of the art therapy is connection and the social support. So exercise is very simple

[00:12:01] you can if you really want to do the collaborative art project you can collaborate with others

[00:12:07] even I do have my open you know free community I would highly recommend you join that

[00:12:13] and be part of it and use this opportunity and connections to build a collaborative you know

[00:12:20] collaborative project. You can two to three can get together and create a group work right for that

[00:12:28] you don't have to be physically present you can discuss the idea and then you can create it and

[00:12:34] then virtually you can join that or something like that right you can do this. So discussion,

[00:12:39] ideation all those things you can do it collaboratively. Now use this way to foster the connection

[00:13:17] collage, benefit number two emotional expression where we you know expressive and color we will

[00:13:24] be discussed about emotion wheel self exploration we talk about the journal visual journal

[00:13:30] and improvement in mood we discussed about gratitude practice right using the painting as a tool.

[00:13:37] Inhanced self-esteem we talk about the self love and the affirmation and belief and counter belief also

[00:13:44] and for the emotional release we discussed about the expressive painting without thinking about

[00:13:51] without you know judgment with respect to outcome then coping mechanism we talk about creating a

[00:13:57] small diary and toolbox which will remind you about the your coping strategies which can be anything

[00:14:18] you know getting connected with that moment and really feeling the elements and connection and
