Intro: Howling (Sting) - Gunnar Olsen
Outro: Your Intro by Audionautix

[00:00:00] Who do you think is most likely in the RB Paddock to just be like a gossip monger? Like who gives you that vibe?

[00:00:09] Oh, Paris!

[00:00:12] Dude, he has watched so many Mexican soap operas and he needs to protect his seat. So he's like creating instability.

[00:00:20] Oh my God! That's a dangerous cross-section. Oh, shit. Yeah, think about that.

[00:00:35] So we're gonna show where we unpack the race weekend and talk to folks from the racing community, which could also be you guys.

[00:00:42] We are your hosts, I am Akash. And I'm Sarang. And obviously, this is Saudi Grand Prix. So continuing with traditions, let's see who's in the house.

[00:00:53] Hey guys, it's me, Shayan Saudi Roy as they call me around these parts. Never missed a Saudi GP in my life. Never will.

[00:01:01] That's what he lives for.

[00:01:07] Welcome back, guys. It's a yearly tradition.

[00:01:13] Yeah, our yearly tradition. You'll already know this one is gonna be a riot. So stick to the end. Let's just dive into it, man.

[00:01:20] What were your raw thoughts, Shayan? What do you think of this season?

[00:01:24] This is a really race too. But this season, right? Looking forward and the race.

[00:01:30] Guys, I'll be mad honest. And I don't feel bad saying this because it's just race two of the season, but I'm still so checked out from the season for a multitude of reasons.

[00:01:40] One being there is still no official broadcast in India. So I'm like, fine, I paid for F1 TV last year.

[00:01:48] I consumed all the content to justify the cost price. And now, like this time just before Bahrain GP, I was like, I think I'll skip a couple of races.

[00:01:59] Let's see if it's worth it.

[00:02:04] Thankfully, before Saudi GP, Akash reached out to me and told me about an easier way to watch the races without destroying my pockets.

[00:02:12] So I did catch the Saudi GP finally first race of the year.

[00:02:16] Even then, after a couple laps in, I found myself just being checked out again.

[00:02:23] I was just passively watching the race and that is so weird because ever since this track has come out, I know it's not everybody's favorite track but I've always found it really exciting.

[00:02:34] I feel like since the first race, Saudi GP is very chaotic. But yeah, just didn't get that feeling this year.

[00:02:42] No?

[00:02:43] No, I agree. I totally agree.

[00:02:46] This one was comparatively very boring because it was pretty much tail made for most of the parts that we saw.

[00:02:52] We saw some clothes racing but it was just people following each other in trains and things like that.

[00:02:58] Safety car gave us only one pit stop as well so it kind of fizzled out overall.

[00:03:05] It feels so good to hear you say that because I was watching these two races and I'm like,

[00:03:10] maybe I'm a casual bro.

[00:03:12] I don't think I was invested in this sport as a hardcore.

[00:03:17] But you guys have a podcast which starts with F1 so if you're also feeling this way then I feel seen.

[00:03:24] I feel heard.

[00:03:26] But you know what? Let's not get our spirits down.

[00:03:28] There was at least something great that happened. That is,

[00:03:32] Ollie Bearman who got called.

[00:03:36] I'm gonna hang on. I'm gonna go with the unpopular opinion here and y'all can come bite me later but I think it's beginner's luck.

[00:03:45] Also he's in a Ferrari so maybe that's what you do with him.

[00:03:50] But yeah, I mean he did good though.

[00:03:53] I'll be honest. I don't know much about Oliver Bearman.

[00:03:58] I just heard about one passing, never seen him race in the junior circuits or anything.

[00:04:04] So yeah, I was coming into that race completely blindsided.

[00:04:08] I heard that Carlos' stomach exploded so which is why this kid was gonna be taking his place.

[00:04:15] So yeah, didn't really know what to expect from him but he finished on the points

[00:04:19] and I was like okay, that's quite impressive.

[00:04:22] First place. I don't know if it was luck but I would say you placed me in that situation

[00:04:28] and I will panic so hard. I'll be like, the car is not starting.

[00:04:34] So all things considered I think it did a great job.

[00:04:39] The best part is right? He wasn't around for F1, F2.

[00:04:44] Just got in one hour before the quali, waltzed into the race and finished his B7.

[00:04:50] Yeah, sick.

[00:04:52] What makes me wonder?

[00:04:53] And no incidents, no spins, nothing at all.

[00:04:56] You know what takes Hamilton for a position.

[00:04:59] What makes me wonder though is right?

[00:05:01] Why would you not promote your B team driver to take science's place

[00:05:06] so that at least you can get someone who has some experience

[00:05:10] and get some points for you.

[00:05:12] And why take a rookie who probably people haven't even heard of,

[00:05:16] obviously the fans and whoever know about him know about him.

[00:05:19] And then just give him a race.

[00:05:22] And then at the end of the race I was like, you know what, never mind.

[00:05:25] Seeing Bearman into that point, 6.67,

[00:05:28] I don't think the folks who sit in B team could have even done that.

[00:05:32] Exactly. I don't think either Hulk or K-Max would be able to deliver.

[00:05:40] So tell me a little bit more about him.

[00:05:42] He's an F2 now, right?

[00:05:45] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:05:46] And what are his prospects like?

[00:05:49] Is he being lined up for a big seat in a couple of years or anything?

[00:05:54] I don't think so.

[00:05:55] I mean, I guess nobody is.

[00:05:57] But if this is an audition enough for anything,

[00:06:01] this is the best audition you can give.

[00:06:03] Waltzed into a P76 points for Ferrari.

[00:06:07] I mean, just show that you've got it.

[00:06:09] You can put up those fights with, you know, A drivers

[00:06:13] and do justice to the seat that you've been given.

[00:06:17] Yeah. I mean, Nick Devereus also showed that right.

[00:06:20] He did the same thing and he like got a seat because of that.

[00:06:23] But then of course, like we know what happened after that.

[00:06:25] But regardless, I think that like being put into situations like this,

[00:06:30] like gives you that opportunity which you otherwise wouldn't have.

[00:06:33] Like people now saw that he is able to deliver.

[00:06:36] Maybe something will show up.

[00:06:38] Oh yeah, maybe he might get like a seat in like a different team

[00:06:41] and then hopefully slowly work his way up to like.

[00:06:43] Yeah, probably something like Leclerc, right?

[00:06:45] Like he went to the alpha and then showed promise.

[00:06:49] Man, I'll never forget that outside overtake at Sochi

[00:06:52] and then the next year he was in Ferrari.

[00:06:55] So yeah, something like that for Bearman.

[00:06:57] Got it.

[00:06:58] I mean, I say beginners luck and all right.

[00:07:01] But the two things definitely stood out for me is

[00:07:05] he was on hards and Hamilton was on mediums ahead of him

[00:07:10] and the fight that he tried to put up with Hamilton is just insane.

[00:07:15] Right?

[00:07:16] Warmed up tires for both of them and mediums not really showing

[00:07:21] that advantage for Hamilton or Bearman just being too good

[00:07:24] and sticking up his ass is like, it's just too good.

[00:07:27] But at the same time, once he was past Hamilton,

[00:07:30] I forget who was in front of him.

[00:07:32] I guess, you know, I don't know.

[00:07:35] Somewhere in that race when he did get past him,

[00:07:39] I remember him chasing someone down and saying on the radio,

[00:07:42] he's so slow.

[00:07:44] Oh yeah, he's so slow.

[00:07:45] And I'm like, oh wow.

[00:07:47] It's his fourth play.

[00:07:48] Yeah, I had heard that.

[00:07:49] He's racing brilliantly and he's got this confidence

[00:07:53] at least at this point in the race to say like,

[00:07:55] you know, he's too slow.

[00:07:56] Oh wow.

[00:07:57] Yuki is not going to be happy to hear that.

[00:07:59] Right?

[00:08:00] He already tried to dive on his teammate once.

[00:08:03] Exactly.

[00:08:04] Not a good start to the season at all.

[00:08:07] That team, we'll get to that but that team is in shambles right now.

[00:08:12] First of all, nobody even knows what to call them at this moment

[00:08:15] because their name is like Visa, Kasha, RB, something.

[00:08:20] Seriously.

[00:08:21] I couldn't really recognize their logo when I finally tuned in

[00:08:25] to watch the race and I was like, by process of elimination,

[00:08:28] I was like, okay, this must be the team formerly known as Alpha Tauri.

[00:08:32] Yeah.

[00:08:33] Yeah.

[00:08:34] By the way, did you all notice how, I mean it's a roller coaster of a ride

[00:08:39] towards the last 10 lapses where Bearman and his race engineers

[00:08:44] are having this conversation about, you know, when is Hamilton and Norris

[00:08:49] were behind it.

[00:08:50] I think Hamilton and Norris.

[00:08:51] So yeah, so this whole conversation about when are they probably going to overtake him

[00:08:55] and for me, that's a roller coaster because there could have been more confidence

[00:09:01] imparted than sort of like what went down.

[00:09:03] But do you all have any opinion or thoughts about what was happening then?

[00:09:07] I know.

[00:09:08] I think I don't think it's more about confidence.

[00:09:10] It's more about painting a picture correctly to the driver

[00:09:14] that you need to be aware of at this speed, you know,

[00:09:17] they are going to be within striking distance at laps once.

[00:09:20] So I think it makes perfect sense to, you know, kind of keep the driver informed.

[00:09:25] Of course, like, unless like he's shouting and saying that

[00:09:29] we'll learn something like that.

[00:09:30] Otherwise, it makes perfect sense.

[00:09:32] Yeah, but my question is right.

[00:09:33] Like so for folks who don't know what ended up happening was I think like lap 51 or 50

[00:09:39] Bearman asked on his radio at this pace, can we keep Norris at bay?

[00:09:45] And then after maybe like we'll get back to you sort of situation,

[00:09:49] they came back and told him with this pace, he'll be with you in four laps.

[00:09:55] And what I'm and I think like that got him nervous because two laps in,

[00:09:59] he asked at least can we keep Hamilton at bay?

[00:10:02] Right.

[00:10:03] And I'm thinking, hey, you have a driver who's going to finish P seven

[00:10:07] because he's reaching out to you and then you telling him like it's going to happen

[00:10:11] in four laps is already thinking of dropping down two positions back.

[00:10:17] Right. And and then and then what I noticed was the fact that the radio message

[00:10:22] is changed because then they were trying to encourage him, right?

[00:10:25] Like this space is awesome. Norris isn't able to keep up at this pace.

[00:10:30] You know, we'll keep both of them at bay.

[00:10:32] And then you saw the difference in confidence and I'm like,

[00:10:35] why can't you do this from the start?

[00:10:37] They forgot that they are not talking to science.

[00:10:41] And then somebody was like, it's not science.

[00:10:44] It's the other guy. He'll be here.

[00:10:47] Science is behind.

[00:10:51] But I think man, like I don't know if the pressure lasted, but I feel like

[00:10:56] I feel like I work well under pressure.

[00:10:59] Like it's like desi mentality, you know, like just before exams when someone tells me

[00:11:03] I'm going to fail is when I sweat a lot and then I pull through the exam.

[00:11:08] So maybe the expectations were like just get this done.

[00:11:12] But I guess like through the race, they were like, okay, this guy can hang, you know?

[00:11:16] So that's why they were like, okay, let's not be six to him.

[00:11:19] But Shan, do you also think like going into the race and Saudi being Saudi

[00:11:24] like you could have a red flag or a yellow flag or a safety guard?

[00:11:28] I expect it.

[00:11:30] I expect one or two.

[00:11:32] Yeah. Exactly.

[00:11:33] And I don't know like did they have any like major incidents last year?

[00:11:37] I don't remember, but I was still expecting it.

[00:11:39] I think last year was like a more or less clean race if I'm not mistaken.

[00:11:42] But just the way the first race went, I think I might also have like, you know

[00:11:47] those season finale goggles that you're talking about.

[00:11:51] It was there.

[00:11:52] The season where like everybody was like, I mean at least RB and Merc were

[00:11:56] like super stressed.

[00:11:57] Everybody was like on edge.

[00:11:59] So maybe that's why that race like set the tone and like the expectations

[00:12:04] for Saudi for me is like so high.

[00:12:06] So maybe I just need to be looking at it like a little differently.

[00:12:09] Maybe I don't shouldn't be expecting pandemonium each time.

[00:12:13] Yeah, but I did.

[00:12:15] I we're right though.

[00:12:16] I did expect like more but but Stroll delivered right?

[00:12:20] He did.

[00:12:21] He did.

[00:12:22] And he was also like quite busy about it, which I like because

[00:12:28] instead of like, can you bring the car home?

[00:12:30] He's like no dude.

[00:12:31] No.

[00:12:32] Yeah.

[00:12:33] Yeah.

[00:12:34] So he did.

[00:12:35] He did.

[00:12:36] Was there any other?

[00:12:37] There were no the crashes.

[00:12:38] I think gas leak had a gas leak or something.

[00:12:41] Oh, yes.

[00:12:42] Right?

[00:12:43] Yeah.

[00:12:44] Yeah.

[00:12:45] He had to retire because of that.

[00:12:46] Right.

[00:12:47] Yeah.

[00:12:48] Apart from that, yeah, maybe I'm watching these races the wrong way man.

[00:12:51] Recording in 360 as well.

[00:12:53] But it didn't matter.

[00:12:54] He was lost.

[00:12:55] You know what's the funny part?

[00:12:56] You know what's the funny part?

[00:12:58] There's this video and I don't know if it's edited or it's real.

[00:13:01] I've got to go back and check.

[00:13:02] But right as Ricardo spins, I think Perez was about to lap him or something

[00:13:09] and then Perez is going by it.

[00:13:11] Right?

[00:13:12] Imagine the smile on or the grin on Perez's face where he's like saying

[00:13:17] maybe I could lose this race to Ricardo who's probably been posed as this

[00:13:21] and then Ricardo was spinning.

[00:13:22] I'm like, peace bro.

[00:13:23] I'm not going anywhere.

[00:13:25] It's that meme from the umbrella academy, you know, where like they're passing

[00:13:29] each other.

[00:13:31] Oh yes, you're right.

[00:13:34] Imagine how last you have to be because he didn't have to worry about any

[00:13:38] oncoming traffic or anything.

[00:13:40] Just spins around and starts driving again.

[00:13:44] It's like the worst career trajectory that I've seen.

[00:13:48] Yeah, I feel bad man.

[00:13:50] I feel bad but at this point I'm like, you know, it's his own fault.

[00:13:54] Like I don't know.

[00:13:55] The choices he has made is just, yeah.

[00:13:59] It's, I kind of relate to Danny Rick actually.

[00:14:02] I'm like, I feel like I make many questionable choices through my life.

[00:14:05] And then I'm like, why?

[00:14:07] Why did this?

[00:14:08] It was going perfectly well, you know?

[00:14:10] Why did I have to just, yeah, I get it Danny.

[00:14:14] I get it but also like what are you doing?

[00:14:20] I'm asking myself that.

[00:14:24] That went down bro.

[00:14:26] Switching back.

[00:14:27] A few points from Jedha.

[00:14:30] Interestingly, Max had his first pole position starting at Jedha.

[00:14:35] I mean quite unusual statement.

[00:14:37] Finally.

[00:14:38] Quite an unusual statement for us to make.

[00:14:41] But I mean, Jedha's been only around for three, four years.

[00:14:44] So sure, Max had his first pole.

[00:14:47] I don't know how many people care about this but DC won Australian GP twice on the same day.

[00:14:54] So special memories for him.

[00:14:57] What started off during the race was Bearman and Botas were the only two drivers on softs.

[00:15:05] And what is interesting was the commentators came out and said that it makes sense for Bearman to be on softs

[00:15:12] because you want a rookie to have more grip, to be able to pose himself better into the race.

[00:15:18] And by the way, even Botas has softs.

[00:15:21] So I don't know if they were good with it but yeah, that's what happened.

[00:15:25] And turns out Bearman is the third youngest F1 driver ever in the history of sport.

[00:15:31] So that's good as to him as well.

[00:15:33] Oh by the way, do you also know Max one has 100th podium this base?

[00:15:38] Yeah.

[00:15:39] That's another.

[00:15:40] And also like just want to add like if he wins a couple more races, he breaks his own record which he said.

[00:15:46] Oh yeah.

[00:15:47] Last year.

[00:15:48] Yeah.

[00:15:49] Just been like keeping back on that.

[00:15:50] I'm like bro.

[00:15:51] Most consecutive races right?

[00:15:52] Yeah.

[00:15:53] So he's supposed to break his own record.

[00:15:55] That's true.

[00:15:56] Getting a little ridiculous.

[00:15:58] Is it apt to say like it'll end up being like that medal biting meme if he ends up breaking like

[00:16:04] and P2 and P3 will still be him because like he holds P2 back.

[00:16:08] Pretty much.

[00:16:09] Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:16:10] Yeah.

[00:16:11] Yeah man.

[00:16:12] It's so good.

[00:16:13] It's so ridiculous.

[00:16:14] At this season I think it's written off pretty much.

[00:16:18] I don't think there's anything much can happen at least for P1.

[00:16:22] Yeah and I feel Liberty Media knows this and that's why they're trying to add all the

[00:16:28] spice from the off grid drama that's happening.

[00:16:31] Right?

[00:16:32] Because they were and maybe make like two episodes out of the 10 episodes from there because

[00:16:36] they know nothing's going to happen in the race.

[00:16:38] Yes, the allegation.

[00:16:40] Yeah man.

[00:16:41] What's going on there?

[00:16:42] Like it's chaos down there and it's weird like the steam on one hand is like absolutely

[00:16:48] winning everything and completely dominating and on the other hand it's like just like

[00:16:52] civil war going on inside the company at the same time.

[00:16:55] I have a question for you guys.

[00:16:57] Like when Mercedes was beginning like their dominant years I guess 2014 onwards right?

[00:17:03] The season, like the third season when there was a lot of I guess you could say

[00:17:07] Unbun between Rossberg and Hamilton.

[00:17:10] Was the vibe of like the Merc team something similar?

[00:17:14] Like was there less a lot of politics because I wouldn't say it's because you kind of knew

[00:17:19] what was going to happen for like most of the season but you know like I guess my

[00:17:24] question is do you think like an extreme winning atmosphere just breeds these things in F1?

[00:17:30] That's a fair point I mean but we've seen that in the past right?

[00:17:33] Like we've seen that with Senna, with Ross, with Schumacher, with Wettel.

[00:17:38] So it's not that the sport is new to that but the type of Sasabahu type drama that's

[00:17:45] happening right now right?

[00:17:47] Like Thursday there was news that maybe Helmut Marcos is going to be led off the team and

[00:17:52] then Saturday there was a clarification that that's not going to happen and I'm

[00:17:55] like this is just going on a very different tangent that the sport has never seen.

[00:17:59] It's actually getting very gossipy as compared to like the adrenaline and testosterone fight

[00:18:05] that used to be.

[00:18:06] It's gone from that to being very gossipy now so.

[00:18:10] Yeah I mean there always has been gossip around but I think still that gossip was

[00:18:17] not like changing every day you know that's what is weird about this whole thing that's going on.

[00:18:23] There have been so many weird leaks that have been like these I think text messages and

[00:18:27] everything but then people started debunking those saying that you know that's like all

[00:18:32] not real like it's you know Photoshopped or whatever and like it's just going on and

[00:18:38] on and this honestly I have no idea what's going on.

[00:18:41] Like that's what you were talking about last episode as well.

[00:18:44] Like I've been hearing a lot of things but I'm not sure what's really going on.

[00:18:47] Like even when if you remember like big controversies in F1 like let's say the

[00:18:52] crash gate or you know anything one of the Haas that Haas sponsorship thing that was

[00:18:57] still racing.

[00:18:59] Yeah that's still racing and that's still like you know it was kind of pure cut or

[00:19:03] you at least knew what was going on.

[00:19:05] It's not gossipy.

[00:19:07] Do you know what he did?

[00:19:15] What do you think is most likely in the RB Paddock to just be like a gossip monger.

[00:19:22] Like who gives you that vibe?

[00:19:24] Where are res?

[00:19:27] Dude he has watched so many Mexican soap operas and he needs to protect his seat so

[00:19:34] he's like creating instability in the game.

[00:19:36] Oh my God that's a dangerous cross section.

[00:19:39] Oh yeah think about that.

[00:19:45] Talking about all the drama, good point penalty.

[00:19:49] What the why was FIA out for vengeance behind Magnus and man?

[00:19:57] It's like anytime Magnus even blinked and I showed his face and you're like 10 points.

[00:20:03] Can you guys run me through his penalties because I think I was checked out.

[00:20:10] Two penalties I think first was for collision with who was it?

[00:20:15] Was it Albon?

[00:20:16] Albon, Albon.

[00:20:17] That looked like Albon's fault to me but I just watched it in passing.

[00:20:22] But then I saw like he kind of dive bombed not exactly dive bombed but kind of came from behind

[00:20:30] and like closed the door on him.

[00:20:33] That I would still see that maybe that was justified 10 seconds was probably still hard.

[00:20:38] Too hard.

[00:20:39] 5 seconds.

[00:20:40] Yeah maybe 5 seconds but the second one was just insane.

[00:20:44] They gave him a penalty for leaving the track but too many tracks.

[00:20:49] He got the first 10 seconds for causing a collision and then he got the second 10 seconds for not causing a collision.

[00:20:57] Wow.

[00:20:58] He's done something bro, he's done something.

[00:21:00] Like someone did something and he went to the bottom of this.

[00:21:04] Who could he have pissed off?

[00:21:10] That reminds me of the parks and recations joke you know that meme that

[00:21:14] Believe it or not that is also jail.

[00:21:17] If he crashed it was jail but if he didn't then it was jail.

[00:21:20] That's true man.

[00:21:22] But Shayan no I think this is a master strategy from Haas because what they want to

[00:21:28] And I heard someone Matt F1 or someone else also say this basically that's how they're going to roll.

[00:21:34] They're going to have K-Mag go and collect as many points sorry penalties as he can.

[00:21:39] Human penalty points yeah.

[00:21:41] So collect as many penalty seconds as he can and then create a train because even in this one right

[00:21:46] I think he ended up creating like a huge train behind him.

[00:21:49] It was like a Magnuson to know the Ocon, Albonne, Sarchant and then at some point Bota isn't

[00:21:55] behind him but yeah so do that and make sure that Hulkanberg ends up getting a point.

[00:22:00] So that's how Haas gets the points.

[00:22:04] That's Loki genius I'm not gonna lie.

[00:22:07] Brains.

[00:22:09] Wow.

[00:22:12] This is crazy like sorry like this is not F1 related but someone posted on one of the basketball subreddits

[00:22:19] The other day why can't you like there's not very like stringent penalties for big fouls you know

[00:22:27] So they're like why can't you just take the worst player on your team make them foul their best player

[00:22:32] Even if the band for the year like who cares their best players gone for the season you know

[00:22:37] So I'm like yeah I feel like lateral thinking is a big part of sports yeah

[00:22:42] This is not this I don't know what Kaze this is this is Kevin Kaze this is different

[00:22:48] Very passive aggressive strategy but if it works it works man I like it

[00:22:55] Do you think that's what like teams will have to start resorting to now

[00:23:00] Wait who came second in Bahrain was it Perez only?

[00:23:04] Yeah Perez

[00:23:06] So yeah if that's the way this season goes then

[00:23:10] We need some of that so yeah people start doing shady stuff on track I feel

[00:23:16] Right.

[00:23:18] Possibly.

[00:23:19] Yeah.

[00:23:20] I mean I wouldn't be too surprised.

[00:23:22] Yeah this will go from F1 to death note very sorry death race very soon.

[00:23:26] Death race.

[00:23:27] Oh man.

[00:23:30] That would be cool.

[00:23:31] On one hand we were talking about stewards you know giving out two penalties to KMAG

[00:23:36] Right.

[00:23:37] On the other hand Norris jump starts and like everybody's like wait what happened what happened

[00:23:42] It went under investigation like 10 laps after the race started it makes no sense everybody

[00:23:47] Saw that he jumped start right at the start and it's weird and they say that they use

[00:23:54] Some transponder and like they give out a penalty only if like the transponder says that you have done a jump start

[00:24:01] But I mean it was a proper jump start like he did cross the white line like if you go and check his POV as well

[00:24:09] Yeah, it's very clear he crossed the white line.

[00:24:11] Yeah.

[00:24:12] Oh I don't know.

[00:24:13] Yeah it's even admission of guilt before and after if you think about it right like

[00:24:18] Like as he said I think after qualifying or whenever when like in a present of you

[00:24:23] What are you gonna do about you know tomorrow and he gets maybe jump start

[00:24:27] He does it.

[00:24:29] Yeah, he's a video of him saying like I might know way.

[00:24:33] Yeah, there's a video of it.

[00:24:34] So he says he's gonna do it before the race after the race he says he moved ahead then stopped

[00:24:42] And then started going after the lights again but didn't end up really gaining an advantage and you know

[00:24:48] Bit him back so he's admitted or he said he's gonna do it before he's admitted after

[00:24:54] But because FIA regulations 48.1 state that only data recorded from the transponder during the lights

[00:25:03] Going off will be measured for jump start and they didn't

[00:25:08] Oh boy.

[00:25:09] He doesn't get any penalty for jump start.

[00:25:11] And who is checking if people are switching their transponders on or off before the race.

[00:25:18] That is it's happening bro it's happening it's turning into games right.

[00:25:24] See everyone's playing games now.

[00:25:26] Yeah, that's why we need competitive racing otherwise people become toxic.

[00:25:30] Yeah.

[00:25:33] Yeah.

[00:25:34] No here's the other thing that makes me wonder right like there's this race start moment where

[00:25:39] Russell says immediately right like Russell says jump start from Norris and my brain's thinking

[00:25:46] Is he looking right in front of him or is he looking at as at Norris right because he should be looking at the five red lights going out

[00:25:53] But he's not looking at Norris and at that time I'm thinking what if there is this whole collage right someone go make it please

[00:26:00] Someone listening to this go make it what if there's this whole collage of all 20 drivers

[00:26:05] And the camera that faces their face at their lights going out because I want to see where is everyone looking at right this is

[00:26:12] It'd be such a beautiful photo to look at like how everyone thinks as the light goes out right.

[00:26:18] Right.

[00:26:19] Someone go make that.

[00:26:20] Quite interesting.

[00:26:21] Yeah.

[00:26:22] Just few days ago I was looking at this short that was posted by like F1's official channel.

[00:26:28] So they were showing us to how these lights actually work so I think earlier on there used to be

[00:26:34] A software which would decide when the lights go off.

[00:26:38] Right.

[00:26:39] And what they would do is that they would add like a randomized wait time from like 0.1 seconds to 1 second or something like that.

[00:26:47] So using that program once like the countdown starts like 5 4 3 2 1 and then that randomized time and then the lights go off

[00:26:56] But I think I don't I forget which is this was this was years ago

[00:27:02] Some teams figured out exactly how they're doing it and what yeah and how the software works and they basically started doing jump starts

[00:27:14] Because they exactly knew when the lights are going to go off and F1 actually found out that teams are doing this because it was very evident that

[00:27:23] Some teams are you know going exactly when the lights go off and what they did is they tweaked the software so that their earlier model wouldn't work and all those people jump start actually look it up

[00:27:36] What we gotta make a lot of this dude.

[00:27:38] This is brilliant information.

[00:27:41] So anyways my point being that so that's why from then on they removed that software and they have put it manually now there's actually a guy who presses the button which

[00:27:52] Let's the light go off.

[00:27:55] Sheyhan has already positioned FIA as starting to play games which we agree to so how many bucks you gotta give this guy to press the button and think what happens thinking countdown from 5 and then go so that

[00:28:10] How much money do I have to pay to be that guy bro imagine that reckless power just press a button I need to buy it

[00:28:18] You know all the bad man's debut he's like

[00:28:22] You also just start racing by now right what's happening George just out there like Norris is jump oh you know wait I mean he's about to jump everything just yeah I would love that job so much

[00:28:35] Getting paid six figures just to press a button

[00:28:38] Do not press a button bro

[00:28:40] Do not press a button

[00:28:42] That's exactly what we need to spice this season up that's what I'm saying

[00:28:45] Remember there was one like there was a promotion long time ago for like a some movie that will Smith was doing and like he'd locked Lewis up in the paddock and stuff

[00:28:56] Do you get that?

[00:28:58] There's like a funny world video I think I don't remember if this was when he was at McLaren or Merc definitely one of those two I mean obviously has to be one of those two

[00:29:06] But like early days you know and we're doing some promo and there's like this viral video of like Lewis tied up somewhere in the paddock and will Smith's like I'm gonna take your place now and it was just like a skit

[00:29:19] We need that to actually happen now somebody needs to kidnap Max yeah yeah yeah

[00:29:26] It will be Perez for sure that'll be like the big twist at the end of the season keep Perez has orchestrated all of this to get the first seat

[00:29:34] Someone reveals the face and it's Perez all along

[00:29:38] Oh you're saying Max does a face reveal and like it's someone else

[00:29:41] Oh I didn't think of that but that's even awesome

[00:29:44] Oh that's even cool

[00:29:46] Imagine if it was like I love it

[00:29:49] Max was Perez all this while

[00:29:51] Well then who's Perez?

[00:29:54] Look look effort what's happened to people there's nothing to talk about in the race

[00:29:59] This is what you're talking about

[00:30:01] Folks listening we ensure even we don't do drugs and we condone drugs

[00:30:09] We aren't on acid or anything let's just make this clear

[00:30:15] Oh by the way I found out it was a 1999 European Grand Prix which was the one I was talking about

[00:30:22] Dude this was the first time

[00:30:24] If I actually called them out by on live TV they did this and it was just amazing I wish I had seen that live

[00:30:30] Dude collect notes we'll post this man people need to know this

[00:30:34] Yeah but like coming back to the Saudi Grand Prix right

[00:30:38] I don't know why they were racing after a certain point

[00:30:42] I mean sure maybe they were just waiting for a safety car or a virtual safety car or whatever it was

[00:30:47] But I remember this Shah was P10 at lap 24

[00:30:53] And he was an interval of plus 20 seconds

[00:30:56] And it didn't change much because at lap 38 he was plus 16

[00:31:01] And it wasn't like there was close racing or anything everyone was capped out by at least 2-3 seconds

[00:31:07] So so much for close racing and regulation changes

[00:31:11] But yeah the top 10 positions were pretty much locked out obviously until Zhaopit had in the 10th position

[00:31:16] For that one point change nobody cares but yeah

[00:31:19] Oh by the way just calling out since you mentioned formerly known Alfa Romeo team

[00:31:24] What to call it now I don't know steak F1

[00:31:27] Bright green squad that's what I've been calling them yeah

[00:31:30] Exactly like green squad I like that

[00:31:33] Okay they of course don't know how to do pit stops anymore because yet again another race they fucked up

[00:31:39] This time Jau they were like okay we should you know we should be fair and fuck up both their races not just one person

[00:31:45] That was one I think there's another pit 3 which forgot how to change tyres that was Ricardo's I think

[00:31:51] Of course the driver forgot how to drive the car as well but

[00:31:55] Ricardo's crew is always not known

[00:31:58] He had like a one minute pit stop I think because they accidentally put the tyres on the wrong side of the car

[00:32:05] Like right side one left side pay and

[00:32:08] Bro that's so funny dude you're trying to drive you're just not going anywhere bro everything's going opposite pit what

[00:32:16] I don't know what they did

[00:32:19] And again Alpine what the fuck are Alpine doing dude

[00:32:23] Where are they what are they doing yeah having like their bang last in qualifications

[00:32:29] Okon got lapped by Max right I think this race right

[00:32:34] Oh wow

[00:32:35] What else happened

[00:32:40] Dude I'm so glad we spoke for whatever 40 whatever minutes that we spoke nothing actually happened the weekend

[00:32:49] We are good conversationalists I guess

[00:32:52] We what I think one thing we got to so we saw we saw somebody's ask on TV

[00:32:59] What

[00:33:00] What

[00:33:02] What

[00:33:04] Bro

[00:33:06] What race

[00:33:07] One of the volunteers

[00:33:08] I see I see I see I was going to say

[00:33:11] I was going to say wrong channel dude

[00:33:14] Sarang what

[00:33:17] It's not my fault I'm not the reason I can't

[00:33:21] That's the difference between like a hardcore and a casual bro he's thought that also he's like

[00:33:26] There's nothing going on but I'll see what else is there

[00:33:31] There's no racing line this is no other line you know

[00:33:39] Dude there's levels to this

[00:33:41] I like it

[00:33:43] Alright so one thing one thing I got to bring up before before we close this is Saudi revealed that a new

[00:33:53] Kiddia Speedtrack has been commissioned by the Saudi Motorsports CEO

[00:33:59] And it's apparently got like an incredible 20 story hill

[00:34:05] Right and and the first turn or the first corner has already apparently been named the blade

[00:34:12] Which will offer a unique start to F1

[00:34:15] Which team goes out first

[00:34:16] Are we going back to our episode one comment of that's going to be a flying lap and this time probably

[00:34:25] Blade

[00:34:26] What does that even mean what's it supposed to be

[00:34:29] Is it gonna be is it gonna be near like a lake or a river? I mean I want I I what I'm curious about is

[00:34:36] What do they have positioned on ground so that when things do come flying off they can be they can be caught

[00:34:46] I don't want to see just people flying off the 20th story right

[00:34:51] Yeah, yeah, I don't know I mean let's see what happens like maybe we'll get a good track

[00:34:56] I'm hopeful like because very honestly when the the street track was revealed everybody was hyper critical about it including me to be honest

[00:35:06] And we have had some stellar races there and also the show that they put up overall is definitely amazing

[00:35:13] I don't know if you saw this race as well. They had these like fireworks done from drones

[00:35:18] Yeah, those like like those drones were moving around and they were like shooting fireworks look incredible. So yeah, let's see I mean

[00:35:27] Maybe we got a good track. Oh by the way like while you're saying that right like if this is a video right now you're seeing images pop up on the screen

[00:35:36] I'm not gonna lie. I kind of like the track it's got actual turns and not just like a date on a loop sort of thing which the current circuit to me is

[00:35:45] So I like I like the design of it overall but I really hope they don't go all crazy about Saudi Motorsport promotion because if they do

[00:35:57] Someone's probably somewhere thinking of creating a track at Neo on the line and they got a and they got to think right that's a 300 mile or whatever

[00:36:06] But just a straight line and there's no coming back so they're gonna have like a different start point and an endpoint because there's no place to take a turn and go back

[00:36:13] At which point if they even decide to do a reverse thing sergeant's gonna be P1

[00:36:19] Think about it

[00:36:22] Wow

[00:36:24] Now I am thinking about it

[00:36:27] But yeah, that's that's what's been happening this weekend. Thank you for being all the way till here if you are listening to us
