[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to episode 9-season 3 of EmpowerBiz MSME Growth Mindset. I am Abanibhusan Bera, your host and MSME revenue growth strategist and sales excellent coach. As shared in last episode, today I am excited to dive into a topic that can be transformative for any MSME, building a memorable and impactful brand.

[00:00:28] Branding goes far beyond just logos, colors or taglines. It's about creating an identity that resonates with your audience, embodies your values and differentiates your business in a competitive market.

[00:00:44] Through my experience in helping MSME build their brands and learning from my digital coach and mentor, I have seen the power of effective branding to elevate businesses, attract royal customers and drive long-term growth.

[00:01:02] Today I will be sharing the three key lessons I have learned along the way along with a six-step approach to help you create a brand identity that stands out. So, let's dive in.

[00:01:18] Brand building is a journey. These three foundational lessons are the guiding principles that I believe every MSME or thriftreneur should embrace.

[00:01:29] Branding is a journey.

[00:01:31] Lesson 1 is consistency is key. One of the most critical aspects of branding is consistency. Every interaction with your audience, whether on social media, in-store or through email, should reinforce the same message and values. Consistency builds familiarity which then leads to trust, a key component in brand loyalty.

[00:01:56] In Vedantic philosophy, the concept of sadhana, that is dedicated practice emphasizes the importance of commitment and discipline. Just as we follow regular spiritual practices to deepen our connection with the self, brand consistency creates a strong connection with customers over time.

[00:02:22] When every brand element reflects the same core values, you reinforce your brand's identity in the minds of your audience.

[00:02:33] Lesson 2 is emotional connection matters.

[00:02:40] Customers may forget what you say but they will remember how you make them feel.

[00:02:45] Emotional connection is an essential part of building a strong brand. When customers feel an emotional bond with your brand, they are more likely to remain loyal and even advocate for your business.

[00:02:59] Vedanta speaks of vakti, that devotion, as a path to connection and understanding.

[00:03:05] Similarly, a brand that establishes an emotional connection with its customers goes beyond transactions. It builds a relationship. To create this connection, focus on storytelling and authenticity. Share your journeys, struggles and successes and let customers feel their part of your story.

[00:03:29] Lesson 3. Embrace evolution and growth.

[00:03:34] Branding is not static. Just as we grow and evolve as individuals, brands too need to evolve to stay relevant. Don't be afraid to refresh or even rebrand if it aligns better with your market and business growth.

[00:03:50] In Vedanta, there is an emphasis on samskara, growth or refinement as a natural progression of learning and experience. Sometimes evolution is as simple as updating your messaging to reflect current trends or incorporating feedback from your customers.

[00:04:07] This adaptability shows your audience that you are listening, learning and ready to meet their challenging needs.

[00:04:16] Now, let's move on to a six-step framework that will help you build a brand identity that resonates deeply with your target audience.

[00:04:26] Step number one, define your core values and mission. A brand's core values are the foundation of its identity. These values should reflect what your business stands for and how it aims to make a difference.

[00:04:41] For instance, your core values could include integrity, customer centricity, innovation or sustainability. Once your values are clear, outline your brand's mission. These missions should answer two key questions.

[00:04:57] Why does your business exist? How does it sharp its customers and community? This clarity not only keeps your brand focused but also attracts customers who resonate with your values.

[00:05:11] Step two, understand your target audience inside out. To build a brand that truly connects, you need to know your audience intimately.

[00:05:22] Conduct research to understand their demographics, preferences, challenges and aspirations. Think of it as developing a profile that includes not just age, income and location but also lifestyle, values and pinpoints.

[00:05:38] Understanding your audience means your messaging, products and services can be tailored to meet their uniqueness.

[00:05:45] This alignment builds credibility and helps establish an emotional correction with potential customers.

[00:05:54] Step three, create a unique brand voice.

[00:05:59] Your brand voice is how you speak to your audience across all platforms.

[00:06:05] It's the personality that customers associate with your brand.

[00:06:08] Whether it's professional, warm, playful or inspiring, your voice should be a natural extension of your core values and mission.

[00:06:19] Ask yourself, how do I want my brand to be perceived?

[00:06:23] What tune aligns best with my target audience?

[00:06:27] A strong brand voice helps differentiate you in a crowded market, making your communications more engaging and memorable.

[00:06:36] Step four, design a visual identity.

[00:06:40] Visual elements like your logo, color, scheme and typography should reflect the essence of your brand.

[00:06:49] A well-designed visual identity creates immediate recognition and strengthens brand recall.

[00:06:56] Remember, simplicity and consistency are key.

[00:07:00] Your logo and color palette should be easily identifiable and versatile across different platforms.

[00:07:09] Visual elements also evoke emotions.

[00:07:13] Colors in particular carry psychological connotations.

[00:07:18] For instance, blue often conveys trust and professionalism, while green signifies growth and sustainability.

[00:07:26] Choose visuals that reinforce your brand's values and appeal.

[00:07:33] Step five, engage through storytelling.

[00:07:37] People are drawn to stories more than facts or statistics.

[00:07:41] Storytelling humanizes your brand and gives customers something to connect with emotionally.

[00:07:47] Share the journey of how your business started, the challenges you have faced and the people behind the brand.

[00:07:54] Authentic stories are powerful because they build relatability and trust.

[00:07:59] For example, share why you choose your business's mission and values.

[00:08:04] Talk about the milestones you have achieved and the lessons learned along the way.

[00:08:10] Highlight customer success stories that showcase the impact of your products or services.

[00:08:16] Storytelling turns your brand into more than just a business.

[00:08:19] It becomes a part of your customers' lives.

[00:08:23] Step six, regularly review and evolve your brand.

[00:08:27] Branding is an ongoing journey, not a one-time task.

[00:08:31] Regularly assess your brand's alignment with its core values and mission and be open to change when necessary.

[00:08:38] This could mean updating your messaging, tweaking your visual elements or even introducing new products or services.

[00:08:47] Listening to customer feedback is a crucial part of this evolution.

[00:08:51] If your audience's needs or preferences are changing, adapt accordingly.

[00:08:58] Staying attuned to market trends also helps keep your brand fresh and relevant.

[00:09:04] For instance, if sustainability becomes a more prominent value among your customers, consider incorporating eco-friendly practices or products.

[00:09:15] This adaptability demonstrates to your customers that you are committed to growth and responsive to their evolving needs.

[00:09:25] So, building a strong brand identity is a journey that requires consistency, emotional connections and the courage to evolve.

[00:09:34] By embracing these principles and following the six-step framework, you can create a brand that stands out in the minds of your customers and grows alongside them.

[00:09:44] Remember, your brand is more than just a logo.

[00:09:48] It's a reflection of your values, mission and commitment to those you serve.

[00:09:52] Thank you for tuning in today.

[00:09:55] Join me in the next episode as we continue exploring strategies for MSM growth and success.

[00:10:01] Until then, stay authentic, keep evolving and let's continue building together.
