[00:00:59] Let's start with the burning question.
[00:01:01] What's Employee Engagement?
[00:01:03] Amongst the multiple definitions I have come across and will be talked about too which
[00:01:08] I really like.
[00:01:10] The first definition comes from Gala.
[00:01:13] You might have heard about Gala, the legendary consulting, research and analytics form who
[00:01:18] have done this research on people for 85 years.
[00:01:23] Do you know what they say, what they do?
[00:01:27] They say we understand people at scale.
[00:01:30] So I can do to Gala the definition of employee engagement is the extent to which employees
[00:01:37] feel passionate about their jobs and are committed to the organization.
[00:01:44] Now the second definition comes from someone who I really like and I admire.
[00:01:50] His name is Bob Kelly-Hub, the legendary author of the book Employee Engagement for Dummies.
[00:01:58] Bob has dedicated his life towards reading, learning, researching and understanding employee
[00:02:05] engagement and here the definition comes.
[00:02:09] Employee engagement is the mutual commitment between an organization as an employee in
[00:02:16] which the organization helps the employee meet his or her potential and the employee
[00:02:22] helps the organization meet its goals.
[00:02:26] So according to Bob Kelly-Hub, it is about the mutual commitment between the employees
[00:02:32] and the employers who are each help the other achieve their goals.
[00:02:37] You know why does employee engagement matter anywhere?
[00:02:40] Well, picture this.
[00:02:42] It is not just about office ping pong tables or Friday pizza parties.
[00:02:47] Employee engagement is the secret sauce that fuels productivity, happiness and innovation
[00:02:53] in the workplace.
[00:02:54] The term employee engagement was first coined by Boston University professor William Kern
[00:03:01] in his 1990 paper titled Psychological Conditions of Personal Engagement and Disengagement
[00:03:08] at Work.
[00:03:09] In it, Kern describes how he observed people bringing themselves into and out of moments
[00:03:16] with regard to their work.
[00:03:17] He went on to compose the three psychological conditions needed to represent as the soil
[00:03:24] in which engagement might take place.
[00:03:27] If we go into the time machine and zoom back to the industrial revolution, back then
[00:03:32] work was on about churning out budgets and zero-consuming for employment.
[00:03:38] But times have changed.
[00:03:40] The seats of employee engagement were so aiming to transform more classes into thriving
[00:03:46] dynamic communities.
[00:03:48] First forward today, the employee engagement isn't just in buzzword.
[00:03:52] It's the heartbeat of successful organizations.
[00:03:55] It's about creating an environment where employees feel valued, hard and connected to the
[00:04:03] bigger picture.
[00:04:05] Ingaged employees bring their A game.
[00:04:08] They are more productive, innovative and loyal.
[00:04:10] Plus, hello, lower turnover rates and a boost in company reputation.
[00:04:17] It's a win-win for everyone involved.
[00:04:21] Before we door our roasted glass, of course, we should talk about what is not so rosy
[00:04:27] about employing engagement.
[00:04:30] Employing engagement isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
[00:04:34] Sometimes, despite its efforts, employing engagement strategies might not yield immediate
[00:04:40] results or may not yield the desired results at all.
[00:04:45] It takes commitment, adaptability and a pinch of trial in it.
[00:04:50] But don't worry.
[00:04:52] Throughout this podcast journey, we will unravel engagement strategies, dissect success stories
[00:04:58] and navigate through challenges together because here's the thing.
