[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to Eloquence Echoes with Tanuja.
[00:00:12] In the last episode, that is episode number 4, we learnt how to network with people and
[00:00:18] how to build relationships with the people we network with.
[00:00:22] Even when you have built the foundation of a relationship, the question is how do you
[00:00:28] sustain a relationship for a long time?
[00:00:32] The answer is by trust.
[00:00:35] Trust is the foundation of successful professional relationships.
[00:00:40] When there is trust, collaboration becomes easier, communication flows smoothly and productivity
[00:00:46] soars high.
[00:00:47] Today we will explore how to build trust in professional relationships.
[00:00:53] Let us dive in. Truth, which is an acronym and the first letters T, R, U, T, H each stands
[00:01:02] for each of the key factor that you need to build trust.
[00:01:09] The first T stands for transparency.
[00:01:12] Being transparent is crucial for building trust.
[00:01:15] It means being open, honest and clear in your interactions.
[00:01:20] Find relevant information, admit mistakes and explain your decisions.
[00:01:27] Transparency fosters an environment of openness and accountability which strengthens trust.
[00:01:34] Second factor is R, which is reliability.
[00:01:38] Reliability is about keeping your word and delivering on your promises.
[00:01:43] Making a promise doesn't make you a reliable person.
[00:01:46] Only when you keep your promises, you become a reliable person.
[00:01:51] If you say you will do something, follow through and for some reason, genuine reason
[00:01:57] you cannot please inform.
[00:02:00] That is transparency again.
[00:02:02] Why are you not able to do it?
[00:02:04] And what time will you take to do it then?
[00:02:08] Being reliable demonstrates your commitment and integrity which builds trust over time.
[00:02:13] Consistently meeting deadlines and fulfilling responsibilities is essential for earning the
[00:02:20] trust of the other person.
[00:02:23] The third point is U, which stands for understanding.
[00:02:28] Seek to understand first before you want others to understand you.
[00:02:32] Seek to understand not to judge, to understand the perspective of the other person, to
[00:02:39] understand the needs and concerns of the other person.
[00:02:42] Show empathy and listen actively.
[00:02:46] These two are the foundation stones of building and understanding in a relationship.
[00:02:52] When people feel understood, they are more likely to trust you.
[00:02:58] Understanding builds rapport and enables better collaboration which strengthens professional
[00:03:03] relationships.
[00:03:05] The second T and the fourth factor stands for time.
[00:03:10] Building trust is not an overnight job.
[00:03:13] It takes time and consistent effort.
[00:03:15] It's not something that can be rushed or forced.
[00:03:18] Be patient and allow trust to develop naturally through repeated positive interactions and
[00:03:25] experiences.
[00:03:27] Invest time in nurturing professional relationships and trust will grow stronger.
[00:03:32] Last but not the least, the fifth factor is H, which stands for honesty.
[00:03:39] Honesty is the bedrock of trust.
[00:03:42] Be truthful even when it's difficult.
[00:03:45] Avoid deception or withholding important information.
[00:03:50] Honesty demonstrates integrity and builds credibility, which are essential for trust.
[00:03:56] When you're honest, people know they can rely on you.
[00:04:00] Both will build trust and sustain your relationships for a long period of time.
[00:04:08] I used to work in a bank, Bank of Baroda.
[00:04:11] And I had a manager whom I still remember of the several managers that I worked with.
[00:04:16] You know why?
[00:04:18] Because he was an understanding person.
[00:04:21] He was reliable.
[00:04:23] He was honest.
[00:04:25] There is a relationship of trust between us.
[00:04:28] Even though we have not been in touch for a long time, but I still value him.
[00:04:34] I still respect him.
[00:04:35] This is the effect when the trust is there in a relationship.
[00:04:39] By embracing the principles of truth, that is transparency, reliability, understanding,
[00:04:45] time and honesty, you can cultivate trust in your professional relationships.
[00:04:50] Trust is a valuable asset that enables successful collaborations, effective communication, productive
[00:04:57] teamwork.
[00:04:58] Listen to these key factors and you will enjoy the benefits of strong, long-lasting, trusting
[00:05:04] professional relationships.
[00:05:06] In my next episode, I'm going to talk about how to develop or how to build relationships
[00:05:14] in a personal life, how to sustain them.
[00:05:17] Stay tuned.
[00:05:18] Thank you for listening.
[00:05:20] My awesome, awesome people.
[00:05:23] Thank you for lending me your years.
[00:05:25] Until next time.
