[00:00:01] Hi dear Bruce Studios

[00:00:08] Hi this is Ruhi and you have tuned into Dastaan-e-Musafirs

[00:00:13] On this show we explore poems and stories from my book In Conversation with Light and Darkness

[00:00:21] And this is also where you get to know the inner workings of my personal journey

[00:00:27] and the stories that built me

[00:00:38] But this very short time came and went

[00:00:42] that some time's food, some moments of peace

[00:00:46] and some conversations with you

[00:00:48] when I was writing today's script

[00:00:51] I felt like a cosmic roller coaster ride has ended

[00:00:56] and I am trying to hold my busy words again and walk straight

[00:01:00] This is not something new

[00:01:04] I am sure in my mind, every life is a dream

[00:01:08] But I honestly want to know if your clocks ticking as quickly as mine

[00:01:14] If the winds of change are knocking your doors too

[00:01:18] So in the short description, ask me anything link

[00:01:22] Click on it, record your message

[00:01:26] and say hi to this fellow Musafir

[00:01:28] And to be very honest all I want to know is

[00:01:31] if your life's equally crazy

[00:01:33] or is it just me

[00:01:34] so please feel free to tell me how is it going

[00:01:37] Let's go back to our conversation

[00:01:39] So we were talking about the topic of the day

[00:01:42] Long time ago, a Buddha in a corporate suit said to me

[00:01:47] Life will go on teaching you the same lesson until you learn

[00:01:52] What was the saying of Rahatindori Sahib

[00:01:56] New characters are coming

[00:01:59] but the drama is going on

[00:02:01] He smiled to pause before he continued

[00:02:06] But some lessons take their due time and due course

[00:02:12] Sure Mr. Buddha in the corporate suit is a hard pill to swallow

[00:02:16] but I wouldn't be half the person I am today

[00:02:19] without his impact, his thoughts, his wisdom

[00:02:25] It is often in the storm of my life that I circle back to his words

[00:02:30] to always find my answers hidden in his simple mumblings

[00:02:49] As if for a few of us the life we lived till 2020 has collapsed

[00:02:55] and this year was a lot about making sense of what has happened

[00:03:01] and what's ahead

[00:03:03] What's my new beginning?

[00:03:04] Or where's my new beginning?

[00:03:06] I remember this feeling

[00:03:08] It itched in my hands as I signed my first resignation letter

[00:03:14] hoping to never go back to the corporate again

[00:03:18] I even wrote a poem about it in my book

[00:03:20] It's called All Over Again

[00:03:22] Let me recite it for you

[00:03:26] All over again

[00:03:28] Isn't it amazing how we all are hitting a new level of rock bottom

[00:03:34] and rebuilding ourselves all over again

[00:03:38] A collective fall and rise of the being

[00:03:42] I have a memory half a decade old

[00:03:44] a mid-summer night in Delhi

[00:03:48] When a familiar feeling of everything around me falling apart

[00:03:53] sank deep and deeper with each breath

[00:03:58] A job resignation letter a cup of tea

[00:04:01] an expensive camera an empty debit card

[00:04:03] unpaid bills and silence sat on the table

[00:04:09] I feel like I'm trapped in an oblivious ocean

[00:04:13] waves slapping and pushing me mercilessly

[00:04:16] in a hurricane of confusion

[00:04:18] I sighed

[00:04:19] Hmm he said flatly calm as Buddha

[00:04:24] Here come back, tea in hand

[00:04:27] What hmm I'm in the gutter

[00:04:30] left both my jobs lost all my savings

[00:04:32] now I'm navigating between unpaid bills and photography school fees

[00:04:37] So you see I'm officially muddled

[00:04:40] in a gutter broken words almost screamed out of my mouth

[00:04:44] You know when is the best time to remodel rebuild yourself

[00:04:51] To recreate you need to dismantle

[00:04:54] The good news is since you're already dismantled successfully

[00:04:58] you just need to pick up your parts

[00:05:01] one by one and start building yourself

[00:05:05] all over again all over again

[00:05:09] The reason I'm sharing this with you today

[00:05:11] is because adulting is hard is maddening

[00:05:15] Because in this crowd of life

[00:05:18] we are also pulling our own hands

[00:05:21] Like when mom used to take the second store from one store to another

[00:05:26] in her childhood

[00:05:27] Remember

[00:05:29] I love the idea of going beyond your comfort zone

[00:05:33] creating a new version

[00:05:35] but are we doing it with love

[00:05:38] Are we being kind to ourselves in the process

[00:05:41] Is our definition of self love

[00:05:44] limited to a salon or a spa day

[00:05:47] a shopping spree

[00:05:48] and God how much I miss that

[00:05:50] since now I'm talking about it

[00:05:53] But there are moments of triggers when I hold myself

[00:05:57] sit myself down

[00:05:59] and remind me to breathe easy

[00:06:02] like a parent would

[00:06:04] and that works out to be way more wholesome

[00:06:08] than just a spa day

[00:06:09] Because the times we live in are transitional

[00:06:12] and transitions are chaotic

[00:06:15] We are the generation that saw small pocket

[00:06:18] 2 megapixel phone cameras turn into smartphones

[00:06:22] We are the generation that witnessed our cassettes

[00:06:25] turn into CDs

[00:06:27] and our CDs turn into pen drives

[00:06:29] But where are pen drives anyway

[00:06:31] Well, we have come way too far

[00:06:33] The amount of self love and gentleness

[00:06:37] we need now is needed more than ever

[00:06:41] and definitely way more than gifting yourself one day

[00:06:46] Self love is a state of being

[00:06:48] not a shopping day

[00:06:51] It is about wearing your skin gently

[00:06:53] before starting a day

[00:06:55] It is not only about entering or leaving

[00:06:59] but consulting yourself

[00:07:00] whether to enter or leave

[00:07:03] with your wellness in consideration

[00:07:06] It is that 10 minutes of yoga

[00:07:08] or whatever your thing is

[00:07:10] before you snap open a Pandora's box called the phone

[00:07:15] It is about feeding yourself in the middle of a busy day

[00:07:19] It is about talking kindly to yourself

[00:07:22] treating kindly to yourself

[00:07:25] It is about saying that goodbye and staying gone

[00:07:28] It is about saying that hello

[00:07:30] and staying consistent

[00:07:33] Self love is about you learning to be you

[00:07:37] The you that you needs

[00:07:40] It is not a quick day's journey

[00:07:42] But as corporate Buddha would say

[00:07:44] the good news is that we are dismantled successfully again

[00:07:49] And this time

[00:07:50] let's assemble ourselves back

[00:07:52] with more of love

[00:07:54] and less of romanticized struggle

[00:07:58] And while you're at it

[00:08:01] And while you're at it

[00:08:02] know that you're not alone

[00:08:05] I'd love to hear more from you
