[00:01:28] Let's get into details.

[00:01:32] Billionaire Gauda Madani and several associates have been charged by US prosecutors for a scheme involving over 250 million dollars in bribes paid to Indian officials between 2020 and 2024.

[00:01:45] The bribes were allegedly aimed at securing favourable terms for solar power contracts worth billions of dollars in potential profits.

[00:01:53] The charges include securities fraud, via fraud and conspiracy and also implicate his nephew Sagar Adani and others linked to Adani Group's renewable energy arm, Adani Green Energy Ltd.

[00:02:06] The US case also includes charges against former employees of Canadian Pension Fund accused of obstructing an investigation into the brides.

[00:02:15] This legal action follows previous allegations of stock manipulation and fraud by US short seller Hindenburg Research.

[00:02:25] Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been arrested by US law enforcement and is currently held at a county jail in Iowa.

[00:02:34] He is wounded in connection with several criminal cases including the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiq in Mumbai and a shooting outside actor Salman Khan's residence in April 2023.

[00:02:45] India has requested his extradition and the National Investigation Agency has offered a reward for information leading to his arrest.

[00:02:53] The US State Department declined to comment on his possible deportation, referring the matter to the Department of Homeland Security and FBI.

[00:03:01] Manipur Chief Minister N. Beren Singh announced that the centre has sanctioned Rs. 104.66 crore to improve healthcare facilities in the state's hill districts.

[00:03:11] This funding, under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for Northeastern Region, will provide advanced medical services like CT scans, MRIs, ICU care and super-speciality treatments in districts such as Chandel, Ukrul, Jirbam Senapadi and Tamanglong.

[00:03:27] This comes amidst the fraught security situation as both Meiti and Kuki communities demand justice against the backdrop of growing violence.

[00:03:36] Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukraine on Thursday, marking the first known use of such a powerful nuclear-capable weapon in the ongoing war.

[00:03:46] The Ukrainian Air Force reported the launch, which targeted critical infrastructure in the city of Dnipro, causing industrial damage and fires, and injuring two people.

[00:03:55] While the Ukrainians did not specify whether the missile was nuclear-armed, the ICBM is a strategic weapon typically used for nuclear deterrence.

[00:04:03] The missile launch follows Ukraine's recent strikes on Russian territory, including British Storm Shadow Cruise missiles fired into Russia's Kirk's region and US ATSCMS missiles targeting Russian positions.

[00:04:16] The Kerala High Court ruled that waving or displaying a black flag at someone cannot be considered defamatory or an illegal act under Section 499 of the Indian Penal Court.

[00:04:26] This decision came after petitioners were accused of waving a black flag at Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayen's convoy in 2017 and allegedly using force against police officers.

[00:04:36] The court clarified that waving any flag as a form of protest cannot be deemed defamatory unless specifically prohibited by law.

[00:04:45] Justice Betukurian Thomas stated that a black flag could symbolise either support or protest, and its meaning depends on context.

[00:04:52] The court found no basis for charges of defamation, obstruction or assault against the petitioners.
