[00:00:34] The May 20th election will see him contesting in the second seat.
[00:00:40] The Supreme Court declined a plea to ban namesake candidates in elections, asserting its inability
[00:00:45] to prevent individuals from running for office solely because they share names with political
[00:00:50] figures.
[00:00:53] Yemen's Houthi militia supporting Palestinians in the Gaza conflict is now providing refuge
[00:00:57] to U.S. university students suspended for protesting against Israel.
[00:01:04] Karnataka Chief Minister Sidra Maya stated on Friday that Prajwal Rehwanna from Prime
[00:01:08] Minister H.D. Devagoda's Grantsen and sitting JDS MP who is the prime accused in the
[00:01:13] sex video scandal had committed rape.
[00:01:18] In a shocking incident, a newborn baby was found dead on the street in a porch residential
[00:01:22] area in Kerala's Kochi.
[00:01:25] The police revealed that sanitation workers from the Kochi Corporation discovered the
[00:01:28] infant's body wrapped in a courier package.

[00:01:39] Bareilly seat in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
[00:01:44] The constituency is scheduled for voting in the fifth phase for the general elections
[00:01:48] on May 28.
[00:01:49] Earlier in the day, the Congress had declared Ahul Gandhi as the party's candidate for
[00:01:54] Rai Bareilly which was recently vacated by his mother Sonia Gandhi upon her appointment
[00:01:58] to the Rajasapha.
[00:01:59] Amethi, another traditional Congress seat, will see Gandhi loyalist K.L. Sharma contesting
[00:02:04] as the Congress candidate.
[00:02:06] Meanwhile, PM Modi in West Bengal said that Rahul Gandhi decided to contest from UP
[00:02:11] sensing a defeat in Vainad.
[00:02:15] The Supreme Court declined a request to ban namesake candidates in elections stating it
[00:02:19] cannot bar individuals from contesting based solely on sharing names with political figures.
[00:02:24] Petit Shnassabo Stephen had filed a public interest litigation arguing that namesake
[00:02:29] candidates are fielded in prominent seats to receive voters potentially impacting
[00:02:33] election outcomes.
[00:02:34] Despite emphasising the retinal effects of such candidates, the court led by Justice
[00:02:38] B.R. Gawai refused to entertain the case.
[00:02:41] Justice Gawai highlighted examples like Rahul Gandhi and Lalukasad Yadam implying the
[00:02:45] commonality of names.
[00:02:48] The court permitted the petitioner to retract the plea.
[00:02:51] Namesake candidates are a long-standing electoral tactic where individuals with names
[00:02:55] assembling those with prominent figures are fielded by opposing parties.
[00:02:59] Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi militia which has disrupted global shipping to display
[00:03:06] its support for Palestinian-Sindagasa conflict is now offering a place for students suspended
[00:03:10] from U.S. universities after staging anti-Israeli protests.
[00:03:14] Students have rallied or set up tents at dozens of campuses in the U.S. in recent days to
[00:03:18] protest against Israel's war in Gassab now in its seventh month.
[00:03:22] We are serious about welcoming students that have been suspended from U.S. universities
[00:03:27] from supporting Palestinians and officials at Sana'a University which is run by Houthi
[00:03:31] said.
[00:03:32] We are fighting this battle with Palestine in every way we can.
[00:03:35] Sana'a University had issued a statement applauded in the humanitarian position
[00:03:39] of the students in the U.S. and said they could continue the studies in Yemen.
[00:03:45] Karnataka Chief Minister Sidhiramaya stated on Friday that Pujwal Raivanna,
[00:03:49] from a Prime Minister HD Devagoda's grandson and sitting JAD's MP who is the
[00:03:53] prime accused in the sex video scandal had committed rape.
[00:03:57] Pujwal Raivanna will be arrested no matter where he is and brought back to India.
[00:04:01] CM Sidhiramaya announced.
[00:04:03] CM Sidhiramaya stated in Bughal code that Pujwal Raivanna's case is not
[00:04:06] about sexual harassment but the crime of rape.
[00:04:09] The victim will not lie about being raped before court.
[00:04:11] Won't her life get ruined if she lies?
[00:04:13] The victim, a married woman, has stated that she was raped.
[00:04:17] He added.
[00:04:18] Pujwal Raivanna's obscene videos showing sexual harassment and abuse of women
[00:04:22] have taken the political circles in Karnataka by storm.
[00:04:25] His request seeking time to appear before the court was rejected by the SIT.
[00:04:31] A newborn baby was found dead on the streets in a port residential area
[00:04:35] in Kochi's Panambalinaagar on Friday.
[00:04:37] According to police, the body of the baby was found by Kochi Corporation's
[00:04:41] Conservancy workers wrapped in the courier cover on Friday morning.
[00:04:45] Police took a 23-year-old woman into custody in connection with the case.
[00:04:49] It is suspected that the woman was raped and impregnated.
[00:04:52] The parents were unaware of the incident.
[00:04:53] Police Commissioner Samson there said.
[00:04:56] We are unsure whether it was a case of stillbirth or not.
[00:04:59] This can be confirmed only after autopsy.
[00:05:01] He added.
[00:05:02] Two separate cases, one on murder and alleged rape will be registered.
[00:05:06] The woman was taken into custody after police narrowed on the search
[00:05:10] to the family based on the address written on the courier cover used to wrap the child's body.
