[00:00:19] Protesters from the anti-discrimination student movement stormed the presidential palace in Bangladesh in Wednesday, demanding President Mohammad Shahabuddin's resignation for his recent comment on ousted Prime Minister Shekharzina.

[00:00:32] Chinese Premier Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi discussed the Ukraine war with Russian President Putin during the BRICS summit, even as 30 countries have advanced interest in joining the regional grouping.

[00:00:44] A severe cyclonic storm is poised to strike eastern India. Cyclone Dana is expected to cross the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on October 25, and the state governments, railways and airports are preparing various safety measures.

[00:01:17] Protesters from the anti-discrimination student movement stormed the presidential palace in Bangladesh in Wednesday, demanding President Mohammad Shahabuddin's resignation for his recent

[00:01:27] comment on ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

[00:01:29] In an interview with Bangla Daily last week, Shahabuddin said he did not have any documentary evidence of Hasina resigning as Prime Minister before she fled the country on August 5 amidst student-led mass protests.

[00:01:39] The protesters have set a seven-day deadline for Shahabuddin's removal and laid out a five-point demand, including scrapping Bangladesh's 1972 constitution.

[00:01:48] Several groups under different banners joined alongside the anti-discrimination student movement at the Premier Dhaka University campus, Shahid Munar and Banga Baban, reported PTI.

[00:02:00] China's Xi Jinping, India's Narendra Modi and some other BRICS leaders discussed the war in Ukraine with President Vladimir Putin as the Kremlin chief chaired a major summit aimed at showing Western attempts to isolate Russia have failed.

[00:02:12] Putin, whose administration has dismissed war crimes allegations against him as political, opened the summit on Wednesday by saying that more than 30 states had expressed interest in joining the group, but that it was important to strike a balance in any expansion.

[00:02:25] The BRICS summit takes place as global finance chiefs gather in Washington against the backdrop of the two conflicts, a flagging Chinese economy and worries that the US presidential election could ignite new trade battles.

[00:02:36] Xi and Modi will also meet during the summit. This will be their first meeting since 2020 Galvin Valley clash, which significantly strained relations between the two nations.

[00:02:45] The severe cyclonic storm points to strike East Dan India as Cyclone Dana is expected to cross the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on October 25.

[00:02:54] The state governments, railways and airports are putting together various safety measures. The railway has cancelled more than 200 trains already.

[00:03:01] As of now, the flight operations at various airports stand unaffected.

[00:03:05] Though Kolkata airport officials reportedly said safety precautions will be taken depending on how the climate changes.

[00:03:11] SE Pulseup Center for Making Environmental Laws Toothless says penalty provision not implemented.

[00:03:17] The Supreme Court in Wednesday slammed Center for Making the Environment Protection Law Toothless.

[00:03:21] The court noted that the provision under the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act of 2021,

[00:03:28] which deals with penalty for stubble burning, was not implemented.

[00:03:31] A bench of Justices Abhay Azoka, Ahasanuddin Amunullah and Augustin George Masi said the Commission for Air Quality Management in National Capital Region and Adjoining Areas Act of 2021 was enacted without creating required machinery to tackle air pollution.

[00:03:46] Additional solicitor Gen. Aishiribhati appearing for Center said Section 15 of the CAQM Act, which deals with penalty for stubble burning, will be implemented effectively as regulations for it will be issued in 10 days.

[00:03:57] An adjudicating officer will be appointed and all necessary actions will be taken to enforce the law effectively, she said.

[00:04:05] Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi marked her electoral debut on Wednesday as the UDF candidate for the upcoming YNAT Bipole with the Grand Roadshow.

[00:04:12] The 1.5-kilometre procession which began from the new best stand in Kalpeta,

[00:04:17] to the participation of prominent Congress leaders including leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarujan Kargi.

[00:04:24] Key party figures from across the country, office bearers of various feeder organizations and members of Parliament also took part in the event.

[00:04:31] Following the roadshow, Priyanka accompanied by Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi, her brother Rahul Gandhi, her husband Robert Badra and their children Raihan and Miraya filed her nomination papers officially entering the electoral race.
