[00:00:39] Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday challenged the Delhi High Court order upholding his arrest

[00:00:43] in the excess policy case and sought an early hearing in the Supreme Court.

[00:00:50] The Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI probe into the alleged crimes against women and

[00:00:54] enforceable land grabbing and West Bengal's Sandesh Kali.

[00:01:00] US President Joe Biden in an interview said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's

[00:01:04] approach to the war in Gaza was a mistake, offering further criticism of Israel's handling

[00:01:09] of the conflict.

[00:01:13] After the Idkidhaisis of the Zero Malabar Catholic Church screened the controversial

[00:01:17] movie The Kerala Story, a church under the Anakulamankamali Archdiocese showed

[00:01:22] a documentary on the Manipur violence of students attending its vacation catechism classes.

[00:01:32] The Supreme Court on Wednesday defused to accept the affidavits filed by Yoga Guru Ramdev and

[00:01:36] managing director of Patanjali Ayurved Bal Krishna, tendering unconditional apologies

[00:01:41] over publishing misleading advertisements, asserting they did so when caught on the

[00:01:45] wrong foot.

[00:01:46] The court also came down hard on the state licensing authority for its inaction

[00:01:50] on the issue and said it is not going to take it lightly.

[00:01:53] We will rip you apart, a bench of justices Himakoli and a Hassanuddin Amanullah said in

[00:01:58] an unusually stern reprimand.

[00:02:01] The apex court observed that after notices to show costs were issued to them and they

[00:02:05] were directed to present themselves before it, Ramdev and Bal Krishna attempted to

[00:02:09] wriggle out of the situation where personal presence was warranted.

[00:02:13] It is most unacceptable, the court said.

[00:02:15] The court fixed the matter for a resumed hearing on April 16.

[00:02:21] Chief Justice of India, D. Y. Chandrishudhan, Venice, said he will look into Delhi Chief

[00:02:25] Minister Admin Kejriwal's request for an early listing of his plea against a high

[00:02:29] court order upholding his arrest in the excess policy case.

[00:02:33] He asked Kejriwal's lawyer to send an email.

[00:02:36] Earlier in the day, Kejriwal moved the Supreme Court against April 9th, judgment

[00:02:39] of the High Court.

[00:02:41] In a massive blow to the Chief Minister, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday upheld

[00:02:44] his arrest in a money-launtering case stemming from the alleged excess policy scam,

[00:02:49] saying the enforcement directed it was left with little option after he skipped

[00:02:52] repeated summonses and refused to join the investigation.

[00:02:56] A single judge bench of Justice Swarna Kanthasharma also cited the eeries claim

[00:03:00] that Kejriwal conspired and was actively involved in the use and concealment

[00:03:03] of the proceeds of crime to reject his petition against his arrest.

[00:03:08] It chastised the Amadmi Party leader, claimed to have been involved

[00:03:11] in money-launtering in his personal capacity and in his capacity as a national

[00:03:15] convener of the political party for questioning the timing of his arrest

[00:03:18] and underlined that an investigation against the classes and masses

[00:03:22] cannot be different.

[00:03:24] It also debuked Kejriwal for casting aspersions on the judicial process

[00:03:28] with his claim about an approval making donations to the BJP through

[00:03:31] electoral bonds, saying the law relating to approvers was over 100 years

[00:03:35] old and was not enacted to implicate the politician.

[00:03:38] The High Court asserted that there was no contravention of legal

[00:03:41] provisions as the ED had enough material in its position to nail him.

[00:03:45] The matter pertains to alleged corruption and money-launtering in the

[00:03:47] formulation and execution of the Delhi government's access policy for

[00:03:50] 2021-22 that was later scrapped.

[00:03:54] Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21st, hours after the

[00:03:57] High Court refused to grant him protection from coercive action

[00:04:01] by the Federal Anti-Money-Launtering Agency.

[00:04:03] He is in judicial custody till April 15th and is currently

[00:04:06] lodged in Tihar Jail.

[00:04:11] The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday ordered a CBI investigation into

[00:04:14] allegations of crimes against women and forcible land grabbing in

[00:04:17] West Bengal's Sandesh Kali, which had witnessed protests over the

[00:04:21] issues.

[00:04:22] Stating that the investigation will be monitored by the court,

[00:04:25] a division bench presided by Chief Justice T.S. Shivajnianam

[00:04:29] directed the CBI to file a comprehensive report on the

[00:04:31] alleged illegal conversion of agricultural land into water bodies

[00:04:35] for PC culture after conducting a thorough inspection of revenue records

[00:04:38] and physical inspection of land alleged to have been converted.

[00:04:42] The court directed the central bid of investigation to investigate

[00:04:45] allegations of crime against women and forcible land grabbing in

[00:04:48] Sandesh Kali and submit a comprehensive report to it on May 2nd,

[00:04:52] the next date of hearing.

[00:04:54] ED officials were attacked on January 5th by a mob when they

[00:04:57] went to Sandesh Kali to search the premises of now-

[00:04:59] suspended Rimal Congress leader Shah Jahan Sheikh in connection

[00:05:03] with a relation distribution scam case.

[00:05:09] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's approach to the war in

[00:05:12] Gaza is a mistake. US President Joe Biden said in an interview

[00:05:15] published on Tuesday, offering further criticism of Israel's

[00:05:18] handling of the conflict.

[00:05:20] Biden has also previously called Israel's bombing in Gaza

[00:05:23] indiscriminate and its military actions over the top.

[00:05:26] The White House said last week that the president in a call

[00:05:29] with Netanyahu threatened to make conditional U.S. support

[00:05:32] for Israel's offensive on it taking concrete steps to

[00:05:35] protect aid workers and civilians.

[00:05:37] That call followed an Israeli airstrike that killed seven

[00:05:39] staff of the eight group World Central Kitchen.

[00:05:42] Israel's military assault on Gaza has been the subject of

[00:05:45] mounting international criticism.

[00:05:47] Domestically, Biden has also faced months of protests from

[00:05:50] anti-war activists, Muslims and Arab Americans across the

[00:05:53] country who have demanded a permanent ceasefire in Gaza

[00:05:56] and restrictions on U.S. military assistance for Israel.

[00:05:59] Hamas's October 7th attack on Israel killed 1,200 people

[00:06:03] according to Israeli tallies.

[00:06:05] Israel's subsequent military assault on Hamas government

[00:06:08] Gaza has killed over 33,000 according to the local health

[00:06:11] ministry, displaced nearly all of its 2.3 million

[00:06:14] population and led to genocide allegations that Israel

[00:06:17] denies.

[00:06:18] The coastal enclave also suffers widespread hunger.

[00:06:21] The United States has traditionally shielded Israel in

[00:06:24] the UN Security Council and vetoed three draft

[00:06:26] resolutions on the war in Gaza.

[00:06:28] It abstained last month when the Security Council

[00:06:31] demanded an immediate ceasefire.

[00:06:35] After the Iriqe diocese of the Zero Malabar Catholic

[00:06:38] Church screened the controversial movie The Kerala

[00:06:40] Story, a church under the Ernakulam Angamali Archdiocese

[00:06:43] and when a state showed a documentary on the

[00:06:45] Manipur violence, the students attending its

[00:06:47] vacation catechism classes.

[00:06:50] The documentary, Cry of the Oppressed on the

[00:06:52] Violence in Manipur was screened for around 125

[00:06:55] students at the San Jo Parim St. Joseph's Church

[00:06:57] under the influential Zero Malabar Catholic Church.

[00:07:00] Father James Panaviril, the vicar of the

[00:07:02] church, said that the Kerala story is a

[00:07:04] propaganda film and that it should not be

[00:07:06] screened by the church.

[00:07:08] Father Panaviril further said that what happened

[00:07:10] in Manipur was not an exaggeration or a lie or

[00:07:12] something that did not happen.

[00:07:14] The plot of the Kerala story, directed by

[00:07:16] Sudhir Tosen, which hit theaters last year,

[00:07:18] devolved around a group of women from Kerala

[00:07:21] who were forced to convert to Islam and

[00:07:22] join the terror outfit ISIS.

[00:07:25] On Monday, the Iriqe diocese offered an

[00:07:27] explanation that the movie was exhibited to

[00:07:29] teenagers allegedly as part of an intensive

[00:07:31] training program to create awareness

[00:07:33] about love relationships and their

[00:07:35] consequences and dangers.

[00:07:37] The movie, screened by public broadcaster

[00:07:39] Dur Dasan last week, has drawn sharp

[00:07:41] reactions cutting across politics in

[00:07:42] Kerala since its release.
