[00:02:09] With the BJP falling short of a simple majority to form, the government at the

[00:02:13] centre, Telugu Desam party and the Jantadal United are posing formidable challenges

[00:02:18] Reports indicate that both parties have put forth significant demands to Amit Shah ahead

[00:02:24] of the NDA meeting.

[00:02:26] The leaders of NDA constituents convened at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence

[00:02:29] on Wednesday and elected him as their leader.

[00:02:33] Notably, Amit Shah who usually stands beside Modi during NDA meetings sat beside

[00:02:37] Rajnath Singh, the BJP president following J P Nardha.

[00:02:40] NDA MPs will meet on June 7th to formally elect Modi as their leader and the alliance

[00:02:45] Congress leaders will then go to the president to submit their letter of support,

[00:02:48] HM leader and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitendra Manchi said after attending the

[00:02:52] meeting.

[00:02:55] With 99 seats in the Lok Subha amid a strong showing by the India block in the general

[00:02:59] elections, the Congress is now entitled to claim the post of leader for position

[00:03:03] in parliament.

[00:03:04] Consequently, calls for Rahul Gandhi to take up the coveted position are growing

[00:03:09] louder.

[00:03:10] Rahul Gandhi, who stepped down as Congress president after the party's defeat in the

[00:03:14] 2019 Lok Subha elections is being credited for the stunning comeback in 2024.

[00:03:19] Since its political debut in 2004, the 53-year-old leader has not held any constitutional

[00:03:23] post even when his party was in power.

[00:03:28] Two Malayalis were among the nine killed during a trekking expedition to the Sahasrathal

[00:03:33] Lake region of Uttarakhand on Tuesday night.

[00:03:35] The deceased were identified as Ashutagar hailing from Kanyakumari and VK Sindhu,

[00:03:40] a resident of Palakkad.

[00:03:42] The ill-fated trek involved a group of 22 members organised under the leadership of the

[00:03:47] Karnataka Mountaineering Association.

[00:03:49] Sindhu, a software engineer at Dell and Ashutagar, a retired senior manager from SBI, were

[00:03:55] part of this group.

[00:03:56] The bodies of nine Karnataka trekkers who lost their lives due to the extreme

[00:03:59] weather conditions are expected to be flown to Bengaluru on Thursday, officials

[00:04:03] revealed.
