Lok Sabha Election Special: NDA wins third term; INDIA bloc makes statement | Top News of June 4, 2024

[00:00:25] While the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance set its course for a record third consecutive

[00:00:29] term with Narendra Modi as Prime Minister, the Indian National Developmental Inclusive

[00:00:34] Alliance also known as India proved to be a significant force capable of turning

[00:00:38] the tides.

[00:00:39] According to data revealed by the Election Commission, the final tally of the NDA was

[00:00:44] estimated to be between 295 and 297 seats while the India Bloc managed a commendable

[00:00:50] 230 seats thereby drowning the BJP's hopes of acquiring Charso Power this time.

[00:00:56] The India Bloc's most impressive performance was recorded in Uttar Pradesh, the country's

[00:00:59] most politically significant state which sends 80 MPs to the Lok Sabha and considered

[00:01:05] to be the BJP's bastion.

[00:01:06] There, the India Bloc of which the Samajwadi party is a part was leading in 44 Lok Sabha

[00:01:11] seats and the BJP in 35 according to trends released by the Election Commission website.

[00:01:16] Among the prominent leaders who took comfortable leads over their rivals are Congress leader

[00:01:20] Rahul Gandhi who won over 3.5 lakh votes in Kerala's Wayanad and over 4 lakh votes

[00:01:25] in UP's Raibarili.

[00:01:27] Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi who won the constituency with over 1.5

[00:01:32] Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Lucknow, Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav and his

[00:01:36] wife Dimple Yadav in Karnowj and Mainpuri.

[00:01:39] Senior BJP leader Smriti Irani lost to the Congress' Kishori Lal Sharma by at least

[00:01:44] 1.5 lakh votes in Amethi.

[00:01:46] The anti-incumbency wave against Smriti Irani proved crucial in her defeat.

[00:01:51] In Andhra Pradesh, Vice-Sarmila Reddy, the Congress President in the state, lost

[00:01:54] in Katapa.

[00:01:56] She came third in the elections.

[00:01:57] TDP was leading in 15 constituencies as per the latest ECI update.

[00:02:01] BJP was leading in 7 constituencies in Delhi.

[00:02:05] In Karnataka, where Congress was hoping to repeat the performance in assembly polls,

[00:02:09] BJP won 15 seats and was leading in 2 seats while INC was confined to 9 seats.

[00:02:16] Coming to Kerala, the Congress-led UDF won 18 of the 20 seats.

[00:02:20] While the Alatur constituency became the only consolation for the left Democratic

[00:02:25] The highlight of the show was the BJP-led NDA opening its account in the state with

[00:02:28] one seat.

[00:02:30] Actor-Politician Sudesh Gobi, the saffron party's candidate, secured a comfortable

[00:02:34] margin of 75,079 votes in the Trishul Lok Sabha constituency.

[00:02:38] Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency and many other

[00:02:42] sitting MPs of the party and its allies displayed strong performances as the counting

[00:02:46] progressed.

[00:02:47] The Rivanand and Buram Menah thing were two other tightly fought battles.

[00:02:51] While the initial trends suggested with tree for NDA candidate and Union Minister

[00:02:54] Rajiv Chandrasekhar in Trishul Lok Sabha, Shashi Tarur banked on his loyal voter base

[00:02:59] to fight back and win the constituency by a margin of over 15,000 votes.

[00:03:04] The fight in Atingal was far more intense with both the UDF and LDF candidates winning

[00:03:08] a considerable number of votes.

[00:03:10] However, UDF candidate Adur Prakash had the last laugh after he edged past LDF's

[00:03:14] Vee Joy by 1,700 votes.
