Kuwait fire: Mortal remains of Indians repatriated | Top News of June 14, 2024

[00:00:27] tragedy were received at the Kuchchi International Airport by Central and State Ministers who paid tributes to the deceased. Following a guard of honour, ambulances carried the deceased from Kerala and Tamil Nadu to their respective homes where the last rites will be performed.

[00:01:41] plot of land the civic body said belongs to it. Let's get into the details. The mortal remains of 31 Indians including 23 Keralites who died in the Kuwait 5 tragedy were received at the Khushi International Airport on Friday by Central and State Ministers

[00:02:00] including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who paid tributes to the deceased. Following a guard-a-phono, ambulances carried the deceased from Kerala and Tamilnadu to their respective homes where the last rites will be performed with the escort police wake-ups ensuring smooth traffic flow.

[00:02:18] An Indian Air Force flight carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indians landed at the International Airport at Kochi around 10.30 am. [00:02:39] Union Ministers Resh Kobi and opposition leader VD Sathishan also paid tribute to the deceased. The 31 bodies include 23 Keralites, 7 Tamilayans and 1 person from Karnataka. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Krithivardhan Singh who accompanied the mortal

[00:02:58] remains on the IAF flight and Tamil Nadu Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Thomas Welfare Kinji K.S. Mastan also paid tributes to the deceased at the Kuchan Airport. A guard of honour was given by the police to the deceased.

[00:03:15] After the 31 bodies were received at the airport, the remaining 14 were sent to Delhi in the same aircraft as a domestic flight, CLCET. The tragic incident claimed the lives of at least 50 migrant workers including 45 Indians with 24 being Malayalis, additionally 49 individuals sustained injuries.

[00:03:37] The fire at Almangal building in Al Ahmadi Kurnade was reported to authorities at 4.30 a.m. on Wednesday. Most dead were attributed to smoke inhalation with reports indicating that the fire originated in a kitchen. The construction firm, NPTC Group has rented the building to accommodate over 195 workers,

[00:03:59] predominantly Indians from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and northern states. At least six people have been killed this week and around 2,000 tourists stranded in Sikkim in landslides and floods after rains and rainfall, said officials. Another four people have been killed in Nepal after a landslide following rains swept

[00:04:21] away the house in which they were sleeping. Heavy rains triggered landslides at several locations in the Mankhand district, which covers north Sikkim. At least 179 people died last year in Sikkim when a Himalayan glacier lake outburst triggered floods.

[00:04:41] Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the G7 summit in Italy and held a series of key bilateral meetings with world leaders. India has been invited to the G7 summit as an outreach country and it was PM Modi's

The PM held bilateral meetings with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. He will hold talks with several other leaders including the Pope and Italian PM

[00:05:14] Giorgia Maloney. The teacher of a private law college in Kolkata who was allegedly asked not to attend classes wearing a hijab but later told a headscarf can be allowed said she was not rejoining her workplace.

[00:05:30] The teacher, Sanjita Ghadar, said that she would not rejoin duties and sent an email to college management conveying her decision. Ghadar had been wearing the headscarf at the workplace since the month of Ramzan in April but the issue seemingly escalated over the past week.

[00:05:54] The BCP ruled that the Ramun Sipul Corporation in Gujarat has issued a notice to former Indian cricketer and TMC MP Yusuf Padhan for allegedly encroaching on a plot of land the civic body said belongs to it. Former BJP co-creator Vijay Pawar alleged that although the state government
