Kerala approaches SC seeking stay on Citizenship Amendment Rules | Top News of Mar 17, 2024

[00:03:06] to conduct a probe into the incident, police commissioner G.S. Malik said.

[00:03:11] The incident was reported at around 10.50 pm on Saturday, when nearly 2 dozen people

[00:03:15] barged into the government run Gujarat University hostel and raised an objection to students

[00:03:20] from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and other countries offering numbers in the facility where they

[00:03:24] stayed.

[00:03:25] Malik said,

[00:03:27] The enforcement directorate has summoned Delhi Chief Minister of the K.J.R.

[00:03:30] for the 9th time in the liquor policy case instructing him to appear for questioning

[00:03:35] on March 21.

[00:03:36] This development follows K.J.R.

[00:03:37] was a parent in Delhi court where he was granted bail for failing to comply with previous

[00:03:41] ED summons, related to the same probe.

[00:03:44] K.J.R.

[00:03:45] has consistently disregarded these summons, labeling them as politically motivated and illegal.

[00:03:49] ED had taken legal action against K.J.R.

[00:03:51] for his failure to respond to the summons.

[00:03:54] On Saturday, the app leader appeared before the R.A.

[00:03:57] new court and was released on bail upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs.15,000.

[00:04:02] On Sunday, the Ahmad Nipati claim that enforcement directorate had issued summons to K.J.R.

[00:04:07] in yet another case concerning the Delhi Jell Board, scheduled for March 18.

[00:04:11] An app minister accused the BJP of attempted to arrest K.J.R.

[00:04:14] all ahead of Lok Sabha elections in order to hinder his campaigning efforts.

[00:04:19] The K.L.A.

[00:04:20] government has launched a fresh plea in the Supreme Court urging a halt to enforcement

[00:04:24] of the Citizens' Amendment rules, 24.

[00:04:27] They argue that the rules are discriminatory, arbitrary and violate the principles of secularism.

[00:04:32] This action follows Chief Minister Pindraya Vigin's condemption of the rules as anti-constitutional

[00:04:37] and asserting that K.L.A. would not appear to them.

[00:04:39] The move points sides with the center's March 11 announcement, facilitating the implementation

[00:04:44] of CAA 2019.

[00:04:46] This act passed by Parliament four years ago, ex-Priets in this citizenship for undocumented

[00:04:51] non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who arrived in India before

[00:04:56] December 31, 2014.

[00:04:59] Terming the C.A. rules as unconstitutional, the state government said classifications based

[00:05:04] on religion and country, artistry, art, literary, unreasonable and contravene the principles

[00:05:09] of secularism.
