India terms US concerns regarding CAA 'misplaced, misinformed, unwarranted' | Top News of Mar 15, 2024

[00:01:14] The Election Commission will announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha Poles on Saturday.

[00:01:21] In a post on X, the poll panel said a press conference to announce the schedule for Lok Sabha

[00:01:27] elections and some state assemblies will be held at 3 pm on Saturday. The term of the

[00:01:32] Press and Lok Sabha ends on June 16 and a new house has to be constituted before that.

[00:01:37] The term of the assemblies in Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim, Anadzipradish and Odisha is coming

[00:01:41] to an end on various dates in June. Last time the Lok Sabha Poles were announced on March 10

[00:01:47] and held in seven phases beginning April 11, what's were counted on May 23.

[00:01:52] Nearly 97 crore people are eligible to cast vote in the upcoming polls

[00:01:57] all over 12 lack polling stations. In the last parliamentary polls, the BJP had 1-303 seats

[00:02:04] while the Congress got 52 seats. It could not muster enough members to claim the position of

[00:02:09] leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha. The Supreme Court said on Friday that the

[00:02:16] state bank of India should have disclosed the unique alpha numeric numbers of the electoral

[00:02:21] bones received by political parties and sought the bank's response. A five-judge constitution

[00:02:26] bench headed by Chief Justice D. Bhai Chandrachur, which was hearing an application filed by the Election

[00:02:32] Commission seeking a modification of the operative portion of its March 11 order in the electoral

[00:02:44] it in a sealed cover could be scanned and digitized. The Supreme Court said this be preferably

[00:03:10] Asserting that the CAA is about giving citizenship and not about taking it away,

[00:03:15] Minister of External Affairs spokesperson Randej Eswal said,

[00:03:18] Laptures by those who have limited understanding of India's pluralistic traditions

[00:03:23] and the region's post-partition history are best not attempted. As regards the U.S. State Department

[00:03:31] on the implementation of CAA and comments made by several others, we are of the view that it is

[00:03:36] misplaced, misinformed and unwarranted. Randej Eswal said addressing a weekly media briefing.

[00:03:42] He added that the citizenship amendment Act 2019 is an internal matter of India

[00:03:47] and is in keeping with India's inclusive traditions and its long-standing commitment to human rights.

[00:03:53] The Act grants a safe haven to persecuted minorities belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist,

[00:03:59] Chanpasi and Christian communities from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh who have entered India

[00:04:05] on or before December 31, 2014. Meanwhile the Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear please

[00:04:11] seeking a direction to the sender to stay the implementation of the citizenship amendment rules

[00:04:17] till the pendency of petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the citizenship

[00:04:22] Act 2019 before the apex caught. The apex caught will consider all petitions on March 19.

[00:04:31] Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Adurapa has been booked under the

[00:04:36] Poxo Act based on a complaint by the mother of 17-year-old survivor, police said here on Friday.

[00:04:42] The survivor's mother alleged that 81-year-old Adurapa sexually assaulted her daughter during a meeting

[00:04:48] on February 2nd. According to police, the BJP stalwart has been booked under section 8 of the

[00:04:52] protection of child from sexual offense act and section 354A of the Indian penal court. Denying

[00:04:59] the charge, the 81-year-old BJP Parliamentary Board member said he would fight the case legally.

[00:05:05] The complainants alleged that the incident took place on February 2 when her daughter went

[00:05:10] with her to meet Adurapa at his residence. Two perpetrated videos have also emerged apparently filmed

[00:05:17] by the girl when she went to meet Adurapa at his residence with her mother. In one video,

[00:05:21] the girl's mother is seen addressing Adurapa as a Paji and tells him that he hails from Shumaga

[00:05:28] the home district of the BJP leader. She allegedly tells him that she has huge wealth running

[00:05:34] into several crows of rupees which is caught in litigation and sought his help.

[00:05:39] In the second video, the girl's mother is seen sitting next to Adurapa soon after entering his

[00:05:43] house and holding his hands. Prime Minister Indramodi on Friday said the people of Kerala

[00:05:51] will vote for the BJP in the upcoming general elections. He pointed out that lotus will bloom in

[00:05:57] Kerala and expressed hope to win double digit seats in the state. He was addressing the public

[00:06:02] meeting of BJP's election campaign in Kerala's Patramthita. The PM started his speech by

[00:06:07] chanting Swami Esharnamaya Pa. He criticized the UDF and LDF of cheating the voters by joining hands
