[00:02:10] The U.S. Department of Homeland Security deported Indian immigrants illegally residing in the United States of America on Tuesday.
[00:02:17] The immigrants were sent back to India on a large frame charter removal flight
[00:02:21] as part of America's policy to deter irregular migration in the country,
[00:02:26] an October 25 press release by the U.S. Homeland Security said.
[00:02:30] Indian nationals without a legal basis to remain in the United States are subject to swift removal
[00:02:36] and intending migrants should not fall for the lives of smugglers who proclaim otherwise,
[00:02:41] said Christy A. Canagallo, Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security.
[00:02:45] The Department of Homeland Security will continue to enforce our nation's laws, she said.
[00:02:50] The exact number of Indians repatriated has not been disclosed yet.
[00:02:54] The DHS removed or returned over 1,60,000 individuals
[00:02:58] and operated more than 495 international repatriation flights to more than 145 countries since June 2024.

[00:03:50] Speaking at Flame University in Pune, Jayashankar noted the proactive diplomatic initiatives
[00:03:55] that have strengthened ties with nations that were historically less engaged with India.
[00:04:00] He highlighted the United Arab Emirates as a key example, recalling that Modi's 2015 visit was only the second by an Indian Prime Minister following Indira Gandhi.
[00:04:10] Jayashankar pointed out that prior to this, India had made minimal efforts to engage the UAE despite its geographical proximity.
[00:04:18] Three people died of electrocution on the waterlogged streets of West Bengal in three different parts of the state since Friday night.
[00:04:24] The casualties were reported in different parts of the state following the cyclone's landfall in Odisha during the early hours.
[00:04:31] According to state administration sources, three deaths were due to electrocution in flooded areas while one person died after falling into a drain.
[00:04:40] The fatalities include two from South 24 Parganas district and one each from Kolkata and neighbouring Haurat district.
[00:04:46] On a positive note, the state administration has reported a reduction in torrential rain across South Bengal, which began to taper off around midnight and has significantly decreased by Saturday morning.
[00:04:59] Officials from the regional meteorological office in Kolkata noted that Cyclone Dana has weakened into a regular depression and is currently located in northern Odisha,
[00:05:08] leading to a substantial drop in rainfall intensity in West Bengal.
[00:05:12] However, they warned that scattered rainfall could still occur in coastal areas on Saturday.
