[00:00:09] Hello, this is your Daily Dose of News from Onmanorama. I'm your host Vaishnavi and these are the major news stories of Sunday, 13 July 2025. The alleged rape case of a woman by a student of IIM-Calcutta inside the boys' hostel has taken a new turn. The woman's father has claimed that the incident did not take place. According to the man, his daughter met with an accident and suffered injuries.

[00:00:35] Meanwhile, the accused student's lawyer highlighted that IIM-Calcutta, situated on the southern outskirts of Calcutta, is a secure place with restricted entry. The lawyer asserted that there is something amiss in the accusation. A freight train carrying diesel caught fire near Thiravallur railway station in Tamil Nadu. This led to a significant fuel spill and disruption of rail services between Arrakonam and Chennai.

[00:01:02] The train was on its way to Bengaluru from the Indian Oil Corporation terminal in Chennai. Flames engulfed five of the train's 52 wagons, while emergency teams rushed to isolate the unaffected compartments to prevent further damage. Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif rejected the idea of a nuclear exchange during the recent conflict with India. Sharif said that his country's nuclear program was for peaceful activities and self-defense.

[00:01:32] Recalling the four-day military confrontation, Sharif said 55 Pakistanis were killed during the Indian military strikes. However, he emphasized that Pakistan responded with full mind. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the new integration and testing facility of Brahmos Aerospace in Lucknow will strengthen the country's self-reliance in the defence sector. He added that the facility will also create employment.

[00:02:01] He praised Uttar Pradesh's improved law and order for boosting investment and industrial growth. He said that historical changes are taking place in UP's infrastructure. The defence minister said that the expressway airport, metro and medical college are all presenting a new picture of development. Kerala BJP chief Rajiv Chandrasekhar rejected reports of disclosure among some leaders over the recent organisational revamp in the state unit.

[00:02:29] He added that fresh faces coming into party posts is a natural phenomenon. Chandrasekhar said that everyone is equal regardless of status or position in the BJP. He said that all leaders are working together as a team with the sole objective of Vikasit Keralam. He also made it clear that no leader would be left without any responsibility in the party's state unit. That brings us to the end of this episode.
