[00:00:27] Four armed men were also killed in a shootout between militants and village volunteers. The Court of Arbitration for Sports said it will announce its verdict on wrestler Vinesh Pockett's appeal on disqualification from Olympics on Tuesday. The Olympic Games will close today.
[00:00:44] Adani Group termed Hindenburg's latest allegations as malicious and manipulative of select information. The group claimed it has no commercial relationship with the chairperson of the Securities Exchange Board of India and her husband. A shutter of Karnataka's Tungabhadra Dam was damaged late Saturday night, leading
[00:01:02] to the release of 35,000 kiseks of water into the river. Following the incident, all 33 gates of the dam were opened to release at least 11,000,000 kiseks of water. Residents of four districts are on extreme caution alert.
[00:01:17] Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh passed away last night following a prolonged illness at the age of 93. Let's get into the details. Five including the wife of a former MLA and four armed men were killed in an incident of violence in Manipur on Sunday.
[00:01:34] Sapam Charbala, wife of former MLA Yamthong Howkip, was killed in a bomb blast in Manipur's Kangpokpe district. The bomb blast was triggered at a house adjacent to that of Howkip on Saturday evening, said officials.
[00:01:51] Sapam Charbala, the second wife of Howkip, was injured in the blast and was taken to a health facility in Saikul but later succumbed her injuries. Howkip was also in his house when the blast took place but he was not injured in the incident. Police are investigating the matter.
[00:02:09] Meanwhile, four armed men were killed in a fratricidal shootout between militants and village volunteers of the same community in Manipur's Tengnaupal district. More than 200 people have been killed and thousands rendered homeless in ethnic violence between Imphal Valley-based metis and adjoining hill-based cookies in Manipur since May last year.
[00:02:31] The ad hoc division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport will take some more time to deliberate on Indian wrestler Vinesh Mokat's appeal. The appeal was against her disqualification from the women's 50kg freestyle final of the Olympic Games. The court will announce its decision on August 13.
[00:02:49] The 29-year-old was disqualified for being 100g overweight at the time on weigh-in on Wednesday. The much-anticipated verdict on her appeal was earlier due to be announced on Saturday evening. The CAS ad hoc division, set up especially for dispute resolution during the Games,
[00:03:05] had accepted Vinesh's appeal against her outster on Friday. The Indian has demanded that she be given a joint silver with Cuban wrestler Yusnelis Guzman Lopez, who had lost to Vinesh but was later promoted to the final following the Indian's disqualification.
[00:03:21] American Sarah Hildebrand won the gold after defeating Lopez in the title clash. The Olympic Games will close today. Adani Group on Sunday termed US short seller Hindenburg Research's latest allegations as malicious and manipulative of select public information.
[00:03:38] As per Hindenburg's latest report, Securities Exchange Board of India Chief Madhavi Puri Bhuj and her husband Dhaval Bhuj had a stake in offshore entities linked to the Adani Group. In January this year, Hindenburg had accused Adani, who was the world's third richest man at
[00:03:54] the time of financial misconduct and stock manipulation. On the latest allegations, Adani Group also said that it has no commercial relationship with the SEBI chief or her husband. The 19th shutter of the Tungabhadra Dam in Karnataka's Koppel district was damaged
[00:04:11] late Saturday night leading to the release of 35,000 cusecs of water into the river. In response, all 33 gates of the dam were opened to prevent further damage to the reservoir. At least 1 lakh cusecs of water will be released.
[00:04:25] The restoration work on the dam will begin only after that, the officials said. They have also issued an extreme caution alert to residents in the districts of Koppel, Vijayanagara, Ballari and Raichur. Minister in charge of Koppel district Shivraj Tangadagi visited the dam on Sunday and provided necessary directions.
[00:04:44] Tungabhadra, constructed in 1970, is the second largest surki reservoir after the Mulapiriya Dam in Kerala. It serves as a major water source for farmers in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Former external affairs minister K. Natwar Singh passed away on Saturday night after a prolonged illness, said family sources.
[00:05:05] He was 93. He breathed his last at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram near Delhi where he had been admitted for the past couple of weeks. Singh was born in 1931 in Bharatpur district of Rajasthan. He was a carrier diplomat who brought
[00:05:20] a wealth of experience in diplomacy to his political career and a prolific author. He has written on subjects ranging from the life of a Maharaja to nuances of foreign affairs. During his distinguished career, he wore many hats and for his service to the nation,
