[00:00:16] Donald Trump has been elected the 47th president of the United States. An extraordinary comeback for a former president who refused to accept defeat four years ago, sparked a violent insurrection at the US Capitol, was convicted of felony charges and survived two assassination attempts.

[00:00:34] He won 277 electoral votes compared to Kamala Harris' 224, according to Associated Press.

[00:00:42] His victory was propelled by a strong performance in key battlegrounds, including Wisconsin, and a commanding lead in the popular vote.

[00:00:50] Addressing supporters in Florida, Trump declared,

[00:00:53] America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. Harris, who had gathered her supporters at Howard University, did not address the crowd.

[00:01:01] Her campaign co-chair, Cedric Richmond, briefly spoke after midnight, assuring the crowd that Harris would make a statement on Benesday.

[00:01:09] He said that there were still votes to be counted.

[00:01:11] World leaders congratulated Trump on Benesday.

[00:01:15] Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to extend his heartfelt congratulations to Trump, recognizing his historic victory.

[00:01:21] He said he looks forward to renewing collaboration with the US to strengthen the India-US comprehensive global and strategic partnership to focus on shared calls of promoting global peace, stability and prosperity.

[00:01:34] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed appreciation for Trump's commitment to the peace through strength approach in global affairs, stating that this principle could bring closer the prospect of just peace in Ukraine.

[00:01:46] Russian President Vladimir Putin responded with caution, reiterating that the United States remained a hostile nation and that only time would tell if Trump's rhetoric about ending the war in Ukraine would translate into concrete action.

[00:01:59] Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump's victory as history's greatest comeback, emphasizing that the former president's return to the White House signaled a new chapter for America and a reaffirmation of the strong alliance between Israel and the US.

[00:02:13] He described the win as a significant achievement and expressed friendship.

[00:02:18] French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Trump on his win and expressed readiness to work together again, building on their previous collaboration.

[00:02:28] He highlighted the importance of mutual respect and ambition in advancing peace and prosperity.

[00:02:37] Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Benesday reiterated his support for a caste census, stating that

[00:02:43] it will ultimately reveal the injustice faced by Dalits, OBCs and Adivazis in India.

[00:02:49] He emphasized that the true purpose of the caste census is to ensure justice for these communities.

[00:02:54] Addressing the Samvidan Samman Samenglan in Nagpur ahead of the No. 20 Maharashtra Assembly elections, Gandhi also vowed that his party would work to break the 50% reservation ceiling.

[00:03:05] The Jammu and Kashmir assembly passed a resolution urging the centre to hold a dialogue with elected representatives to restore the erstwhile state's special status on Benesday.

[00:03:16] The resolution sparked protests from BJP members who tore copies of the document and raised slogans against the speaker, causing the speaker to adjourn the session for the day.

[00:03:25] The resolution expressed concern over the unilateral removal of Jammu and Kashmir's special status and called for its restoration.

[00:03:34] It was passed without a debate as the speaker conducted a voice for it amid loud protests.

[00:03:40] The Supreme Court on Wednesday pulled up the Uttar Pradesh government for an illegal demolition in 2019 while issuing directions to all states and union territories on the procedure to be followed during road widening and removal of encroachments.

[00:03:53] The court directed the Uttar Pradesh government to pay Rs 25 lakh compensation to the man whose house was raised in 2019 for a road widening project.

[00:04:02] The top court also asked the states to ascertain the existing width of the road in terms of records or maps and carry out a survey, which would allow ascertaining the encroachments of any on the road.

[00:04:15] Kerala police said on Wednesday that Malayalam Act and even Pauly was not found guilty in a rape case registered against him following a complaint lodged by a woman.

[00:04:25] The actor was accused of sexually assaulting the woman over a year ago in Dubai.

[00:04:29] During the investigation, it was found that Pauly was not present at the location on the particular date and time as alleged by the woman, police said.

[00:04:37] A senior officer said investigators have verified various documents and found that they didn't match the statements of the complainant.
