1 dead after severe turbulence hits London-Singapore flight

[00:01:12] A passenger died and others suffered injuries when a Singapore Airlines flight from London

[00:01:18] encountered severe turbulence.

[00:01:20] The airline announced on its Facebook page that the Singapore's flight SQ321 from

[00:01:26] Heathrow was diverted to Bangkok and landed at 3.45 pm local time at Suvarnabhumi Airport.

[00:01:34] The airline said the aircraft was a Boeing 777-300ER with a total of 211 passengers

[00:01:42] and 18 crew onboard.

[00:01:45] Local emergency crews from Samithivej Srinagar Rin Hospital were on site to transfer injured

[00:01:51] people off the runway for treatment.

[00:01:56] Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fatnavis have

[00:02:00] instructed for stringent action in the case of a car accident allegedly involving

[00:02:06] a 17-year-old boy in Pune.

[00:02:09] The accident, which took place on Sunday morning, had killed two persons.

[00:02:14] The Porsche car, allegedly driven by the juvenile, who the police claim was drunk

[00:02:19] at the time, knocked down two motorbike riders in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune

[00:02:24] City in the early hours of Sunday, causing their deaths.

[00:02:28] Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar said the police have detained the boy's

[00:02:32] father, who is a real estate developer, and arrested three executives of two hotels

[00:02:37] for serving liquor to the juvenile.

[00:02:42] The Wrestling Federation of India on Tuesday decided to exempt all six Olympic

[00:02:46] Quota winners from selection trials.

[00:02:49] The federation said, however, their form and fitness will be assessed at the

[00:02:52] upcoming ranking series event and the subsequent training camp in Hungary.

[00:02:58] The WFI said the decision to not hold trials has been taken under peculiar

[00:03:02] circumstances and should not be used as a precedent in the future.

[00:03:07] The WFI also made it clear that if any wrestler is found to be lacking in

[00:03:11] fitness, the federation would consider a replacement through trials before

[00:03:15] July 8, the deadline for sending entries.

[00:03:21] Delhi's Rouse Avenue court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of AAP

[00:03:26] leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia, and

[00:03:30] others accused in the alleged excise policy scam till May 31.

[00:03:35] Sisodia has been in custody since February 26, 2023 after arrest by the

[00:03:41] CBI.

[00:03:42] Subsequently, Directorate of Enforcement recorded his arrest.

[00:03:46] On May 15, the Delhi court had extended his custody till May 30 in

[00:03:50] the same case.

[00:03:51] A total of 18 persons have been arrested in the case so far, including

[00:03:55] Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, several AAP leaders, BRS leader K

[00:04:01] Kavita and others.

[00:04:05] In a big relief for Congress leader K Sudhagaran, the Kerala High Court on

[00:04:09] Tuesday acquitted him of conspiracy charges in the 1995 EPJ Rajan murder

[00:04:14] attempt case.

[00:04:16] The court also quashed the Trivandrum Additional Sessions Court order

[00:04:20] seeking trial proceedings against him.

[00:04:23] The High Court pronounced the verdict while considering Sudhagaran's

[00:04:26] plea in the case.

[00:04:27] Earlier, a trial court convicted the first accused Peta Dineshan and

[00:04:32] the second accused Vikram Chalil Shashi in the murder attempt case.

[00:04:37] But, a higher court acquitted both from the charges later.

[00:04:42] Pointing out this fact, Sudhagaran approached Trivandrum Additional

[00:04:45] Sessions Court seeking acquittal in the case.

[00:04:48] However, the trial court rejected his plea citing evidence for

[00:04:52] conspiracy charges against him.

[00:04:54] Following this, he filed a plea before the High Court.

[00:04:58] BPM leader J Rajan, now the LDF convener, was shot at while the train

[00:05:03] he was travelling in neared the Chirrla railway station in

[00:05:06] Andhra Pradesh on April 12, 1995.
