Eclipse Economics: A Financial Forecast for the Buffalo-Niagara Region

[00:00:00] The Solar Eclipse of 2024 is only two weeks away and everybody is coming to the Buffalo

[00:00:12] Niagara region and that's where we're broadcasting this show from.

[00:00:16] Welcome everyone to Buy Hold Sell.

[00:00:18] This is a very special report because we're going to be talking about the economic impact

[00:00:23] of the Solar Eclipse coming to Buffalo.

[00:00:26] And as everybody knows it is going right up straight through the middle of the country

[00:00:30] but the totality, the peak event will be in the Buffalo Niagara region and it sounds like

[00:00:36] everyone is coming to town.

[00:00:38] We have with us all kinds of special guests.

[00:00:41] Later in the show we're going to have Life Coach Kimberly Ferris who is putting together

[00:00:45] an extraordinary class on the day before the event.

[00:00:49] She's going to have all these groups listening to her.

[00:00:51] She's expecting thousands of people.

[00:00:54] That's going to be fascinating so we're going to talk to her all about it.

[00:01:15] Well listen Ned I got to start with you.

[00:01:17] You're the financial guru.

[00:01:18] I know you're talking to a lot of your clients that are local.

[00:01:22] They're very excited about this but they're not alone.

[00:01:25] We're talking about two million people are expected to be in this region all one time.

[00:01:32] It's truly just monumental if you really think about it and all we're hearing about now

[00:01:37] is the economic impact to the region.

[00:01:40] But do you think that's really going to happen?

[00:01:42] So Todd great question thank you for the intro.

[00:01:45] What I can tell you is that we are seeing record Airbnb bookings with hotels being

[00:01:49] sold out from at least a couple of weeks ago.

[00:01:52] On top of that you have restaurant reservations that are already at max capacity as well as

[00:01:57] different travel destinations like Niagara Falls and Lake in Lake Look.

[00:02:01] So I think it's been 200 years since we've had a complete solar eclipse.

[00:02:06] Nobody in our local area remembers anything like that so this truly is a unique opportunity

[00:02:12] and little known fact the market usually performs at 40% better return in returns

[00:02:18] when there is an eclipse like this just throwing that out there.

[00:02:21] Oh my goodness that is amazing.

[00:02:24] I'd say we will be using that in all of the buy-hold sell shows over the next couple of weeks.

[00:02:29] Angela you are an expert when it comes to really everything with astrology

[00:02:34] you're talking about with the eclipse that's coming up.

[00:02:37] I mean there's probably so many things that can happen on a positive

[00:02:42] and a positive way for everyone.

[00:02:45] I've been doing my own research and I think that people that might be stuck in a rut

[00:02:50] they're actually looking forward to this eclipse is a moment of change.

[00:02:54] What do you think though from your maybe the people you're speaking with on the financial side

[00:03:00] I mean is it really going to change?

[00:03:03] I mean is it going to really bring on something that a lot of people aren't expecting?

[00:03:07] I think so just from the research that I've been doing

[00:03:12] they're saying that it's going to be a shift in energies it's going to be a shift in people and animals.

[00:03:20] They're saying there's like two broods of cicadas that have been dormant for like 13 to 17 years

[00:03:27] that they're going to be active.

[00:03:29] And yeah I think around Illinois is where they said because there's actually a spot in Illinois

[00:03:34] that will see two solar eclipses within the past eight years.

[00:03:40] So it's time for change and we're in that path of the eclipse which is kind of crazy.

[00:03:47] I remember one from when I was think maybe third grade and you know that was brush bless outside

[00:03:53] made sure you didn't look at it and that kind of thing but I with over two million people

[00:03:59] they're saying within our area and in Canada, Southern Ontario also that's going to go all the way up towards Montreal and head out that way.

[00:04:09] That's right and if you look at the map you actually will see that it goes really up through into Dallas

[00:04:15] and goes up to the middle part of the country but the totality where that sun is completely blocked

[00:04:22] will be taking place right in the Buffalo region.

[00:04:25] So naturally you have so many that are interested that it's really a once in a generation multi-generation moment

[00:04:33] and they want to be here for that moment.

[00:04:36] It's probably the single biggest event that Americans will actually watch because it will

[00:04:42] it actually the entire country can actually take part in this but you're going to have most people

[00:04:47] that want to come here.

[00:04:48] You know let's talk about that a little bit on the change because the economics of this

[00:04:54] all I've been seeing is that the two million people we've been talking about it.

[00:04:57] You have a number of businesses that are delivery businesses that are actually closing that day

[00:05:03] because they know that their drivers are going to be stuck in all kinds of traffic.

[00:05:07] But when you start looking at numbers like the GDP numbers here in this region in Buffalo

[00:05:14] that's actually Buffalo Niagara and and Chic De Waga I believe that the GDP annual comes out to

[00:05:21] 84 billion dollars.

[00:05:23] This moment alone is expected to bring in two and a half billion dollars.

[00:05:29] This will be the people are coming in for the weekend two and a half billion.

[00:05:33] That's just an amazing number that can really push things higher for the for the rest of the decade

[00:05:41] just in this region on that change net you know what everything Angela was talking about

[00:05:46] your clients that you're speaking with I assume I mean do they feel any pressure?

[00:05:51] I mean we have higher inflation we talk about higher prices at the pump and at the

[00:05:56] grocery stores but are they looking for something like this to be maybe their excuse to say you know

[00:06:01] what I'm going to make that move I'm going into the markets I might be doing something

[00:06:05] that's revolutionary for their own personal balance sheet.

[00:06:09] I'm going to be honest with you no but now that you say it it makes sense.

[00:06:14] I think you were happy with Powell's speech the other day about the the raising of the

[00:06:18] interest rates I think that's getting them a little bit more involved but

[00:06:21] you know for me this is a this is a really unique opportunity I'm I mean people are definitely

[00:06:26] talking about it yeah it's just we don't have a Super Bowl team we don't have a Stanley Cup team

[00:06:31] where this is the only thing that's driving driving people into the area so whatever it is

[00:06:36] we'll take it we'll take it. So I was reading St. Louis Fed released a number that talked about

[00:06:42] the amount of money that a local tourist will spend in the Niagara Falls Buffalo region.

[00:06:49] The number comes out to $1735 this is American dollars now look in a Canada or anything like that

[00:06:56] so I started doing some math and I started thinking okay maybe you're flying into town

[00:07:01] maybe that's going to cost you say 700 bucks because as you know hotels are booking up you

[00:07:06] mentioned the Airbnb's that are booking up air flights are very expensive into the region for

[00:07:11] that weekend alone I mean this is a week after Easter and you're going to have flights that

[00:07:16] expensive so when you see that let's just assume that it's a thousand hours per person

[00:07:22] for the economic impact here I mean my goodness when I start thinking of this people that don't

[00:07:28] have enough money in the city to fill potholes I can't imagine what this is going to do for

[00:07:33] governments and you know and everything else and I'm here in Buffalo with you guys I mean I'm

[00:07:37] truly looking forward to this I mean Angela give us a little bit of the astrology background

[00:07:44] here give us an idea of why the energy is so big on this day so then I actually did look into because

[00:07:53] what they say when it's going to be completely black here is that you're going to be able to see

[00:08:00] the stars and you know the umbra everything coming off the the moon and the sun and

[00:08:06] um I was at an event last week in East Aurora and the entire town has embraced the eclipse they have

[00:08:16] the Knox farm state park that they're promoting a huge event out there they sold out all their tickets

[00:08:24] um they every single business that I was talking to that is there was either selling

[00:08:30] glasses or they're having an event or they're you know having a booth at the place they're

[00:08:36] going to have music and all the things so it's kind of bringing all the communities together

[00:08:40] and they actually extended the spring break so that all the kids had office school so

[00:08:47] yeah so my kids are excited about that that they have an extra day and that they can go out and

[00:08:52] and and watch this because it's something that you know they have never seen before

[00:08:57] that's extraordinary yeah yeah and a lot of the the things with the the change in the weather

[00:09:04] they're saying the animals are affected also you know by by the eclipse and it's you know

[00:09:10] gonna look like it's midnight but it's really I think I actually wrote it down they said it's

[00:09:16] happening between 318 and 322 is when they you know completely but that's total blackness from 318

[00:09:26] to 322 correct the actual part will probably start I think I read at two o'clock or two something

[00:09:33] yes it's 204 yeah 204 so so really you're going to be seeing this over I mean this isn't just that

[00:09:41] four-minute span it would you know like the Kentucky Derby and it's over I mean this is going to go on

[00:09:46] for a while and you could just imagine I mean I would I'm picturing I can see people in Buffalo

[00:09:52] pulling over on the side of the road on I-90 the main throughway in New York State just

[00:09:59] getting out of their cars and looking at this thing like Independence Day I mean if people

[00:10:02] don't know what to do yeah they're going crazy the animals are going crazy but the money's going

[00:10:09] to be flowing and that's really that's the one thing that we love to talk about on buy hold

[00:10:13] so is when the dollars are flowing everybody loves that so Ned are you guys planning any special

[00:10:19] you know events for this eclipse I mean maybe a seminar to say hey when you're in town guess

[00:10:25] what you know I'm a rock star when it comes to Boston and Eston no unfortunately I'm we haven't

[00:10:33] only simply because of the fact that it's so close to the holidays and there's there's also going to

[00:10:38] be a dingus day celebration a lot of my family's participating in that as well so you know it's

[00:10:42] going to be a culmination of a bunch of different things happening within a very short period

[00:10:45] of time um you know and uh you're making me feel a little guilty like I should have done

[00:10:51] something like that but uh Angela can you write that down for the next

[00:10:58] the reason why I say that is it was the next guest coming up in the next block

[00:11:01] Kimberly Ferris has actually put together a full plan because there's so many tourists that are

[00:11:07] coming into town and they're group tourists that are coming into town that they need stuff to do

[00:11:11] they need to know what to do with things to do you know places to see and she's actually

[00:11:17] there's a a place called Lilydale which is south of Buffalo which is notorious for people that are

[00:11:23] into astrology spiritual they want life coaching that and she's putting together this fabulous

[00:11:29] class so now it's really integrated in with a lot of these tour groups that are going to be going

[00:11:35] in and that's why I was wondering what you're doing because you are you're really a rock star

[00:11:39] when it comes to the financial side in Buffalo I mean I know western New Yorkers they I mean

[00:11:44] I go and I'll go out somewhere and people ask me if I know you guys because they say you know

[00:11:49] your stuff and I think that's a big deal so I would think yeah putting together a marketing plan

[00:11:54] with that but maybe you don't need to though you guys are experts at this anyway who knows who knows

[00:12:01] so Angela one final thought for you you're I assume you're going to be there you're going

[00:12:06] to actually see this event that day yeah so you're going to be you're going to be where

[00:12:11] are you going to be you're going to be on the water what's the best spot to be because I'm sure

[00:12:16] there's over there's two million people that will love to know where you're going to be so they could

[00:12:20] join you I know I mean they could grab a kayak and join us on our lake but our the neighborhood

[00:12:26] we live in is planning on having everybody out in the lake with their kayaks and the glasses

[00:12:32] and kind of throwing a little party where we live so it's it's exciting and the bills logo

[00:12:38] back there they are actually holding a watch party also at the stadium so really yeah people have

[00:12:45] bought tickets to come in like all day event out there on the field to watch um to watch the eclipse

[00:12:52] and they are donating the funds from that to different local charities which is um also a

[00:12:58] great thing um around here so it seems to be what a lot of places are doing is they're

[00:13:03] hosting events and donating to different charities and that kind of thing um and you know I'll be out

[00:13:09] there with my kids watching it and it'll be something they'll talk about for a long time

[00:13:14] that is really exciting and such a great idea that the bills would do that because

[00:13:19] for those that aren't familiar the bill stadium is actually it's very open it's it's wide and

[00:13:24] open so you're you really don't not like some stadiums or stadiums right now that you

[00:13:30] really feel like you're in a pit when you're down on the field because the stadium seats go up

[00:13:34] so that's a great idea that the bills are doing that and what a what a great moment to donate those

[00:13:40] funds that are raised there and I know there's so many other big events that are taking place

[00:13:45] that time and uh yeah just something to definitely want to be a part of it they're

[00:13:49] saying Niagara Niagara Falls alone they're planning on almost a million a million people

[00:13:55] between just being in the state park of Niagara Falls and on the other side just and NASA is going

[00:14:01] to be here too um to kind of show you know what's going on and do whatever NASA has to do but

[00:14:09] like yeah imagine being on the mate of the mist if you're on the mate of the mist at that moment

[00:14:14] I wonder what the tickets are for that moment it must be because extraordinary I tell you wow

[00:14:20] was so exciting so exciting so Ned any final financial words for the audience

[00:14:26] financially it's always best to uh throw your money in a small caps during this time of the

[00:14:31] the lunar solar eclipse there's something about the the the magnitude or the the magnetism and I

[00:14:36] don't know those things do really good so I would that's a little free advice right there um but

[00:14:40] other than that I hope everybody stays very very healthy travel is all nice and secure and

[00:14:46] it can just be an enjoyable event for everybody so that's so one I just want to follow up with

[00:14:50] that so small caps yeah or tend to do well nice moments yes wow okay and if you think about it

[00:14:58] it makes sense because the smaller cap it's less of a market cap so it's by the uh the the magnitude

[00:15:04] pole is able to actually move those that particular sector more than it would a large

[00:15:08] cap or a mid cap it makes sense this is amazing this is amazing we um we definitely will um will be

[00:15:16] yeah utilizing that advice and um going forward please do that yeah no that that's really good

[00:15:22] it's it's it's wonderful actually and I knew the audience will get a lot out of that so listen

[00:17:53] the eclipse is taking place splitting the country the totality the peak of it will be taking place

[00:18:00] right here in the buffalo Niagara falls region now with me right now i'm so excited i have kimberley

[00:18:07] ferris she is a life coach she's also an attorney she's an ivy league attorney from

[00:18:13] cornell law school and kimberley we were just talking to ned tonmore and uh and angela muff

[00:18:20] all about the economics the economy the boost to the region with so many people coming to town

[00:18:26] two million people from all over the world are expected to come right here to the buffalo

[00:18:32] Niagara falls region i gotta ask why what's with the excitement i get this once in a lifetime event

[00:18:40] but there's gotta be something that's a little bit more of a higher power that's generating

[00:18:44] that type of excitement absolutely todd thank you for having me i have to say this will be an

[00:18:51] incredible incredible experience because think about it in the middle of the day on a monday

[00:18:57] all of a sudden the moon is going to come out of nowhere and block the sun in its complete

[00:19:05] totality it will be just like the dead of night in the middle of the day think about how we

[00:19:13] psychologically emotionally spiritually and intellectually are going to react to that

[00:19:20] when that happens i think about the animals and how they're going to react schools are closed

[00:19:27] businesses are closed it will be gridlock if you're on the roads people will be looking up

[00:19:33] we have to have special glasses uh and so it's going to give us a time truly not only to prepare

[00:19:40] but to reflect on what is actually going on the moon symbolically has always represented

[00:19:48] the subconscious the unknown okay and typically when we see the moon we see it at night time

[00:19:55] sometimes a little bit during the day but it's because the sun is shining on it the moon itself

[00:20:03] is not a source of light it's a reflection reflection of light it reflects the light and so

[00:20:10] this time the moon is going to block the light block the light that would normally be shining

[00:20:17] before our eyes during the day on the things that we see and do and we're actually going to see

[00:20:24] the dark side of the moon as a result of the blocking of the sun and symbolically that means

[00:20:32] we're going to see the part of our subconscious that we can't see or that we place along messages

[00:20:38] and things that we don't recognize it's going to highlight maybe our fears or insecurities

[00:20:45] and that's important if you're trying to have success in life whether it be financial success

[00:20:52] like with buy hold sell right and figuring out the code cracking that code so that we can

[00:20:57] make some wealth for our clients and for ourselves or maybe success in relationships

[00:21:05] success in our path in our careers we need to know what might be sabotaging that success

[00:21:11] within ourselves the things that maybe we heard when we were very young or we experienced that

[00:21:17] we didn't totally work through and so in that respect it's highlighting the dark side of

[00:21:22] ourselves to bring that to light so we can deal with it and so we can be successful and that's really

[00:21:29] what it is so I see what you're saying and and it does make a lot of sense I would think that

[00:21:34] that type of change people maybe having something that's in their lives that maybe they're stuck

[00:21:40] they want that change this is their moment this is the moment from a from a power and energy

[00:21:47] source with so many people the common bond the common denominator of people that are there and then

[00:21:54] this is your moment of opportunity when you're speaking to people and you're a life coach

[00:21:58] when you're speaking to people and you're giving advice do you feel that people right now

[00:22:04] are in a struggle um you know one thing we like to talk about on buy hold sell is I know the

[00:22:09] stock market is up but you still have you have inflation you have you have higher prices

[00:22:15] at the grocery store it costs more wages aren't rising as fast so if that's the case then do you

[00:22:23] feel that yeah people are maybe in that rut and they're hoping for this moment um that they will be

[00:22:29] seeing that change I mean what do you what would say you in this before the darkness comes the

[00:22:34] dawn right uh so what my feeling on this is when something seemingly we'll call it bad or negative

[00:22:42] is going on usually our initial reaction is oh my goodness this is a bad this is a negative thing

[00:22:48] we shouldn't invest we shouldn't go out there and try to get a job right now we shouldn't do this we

[00:22:53] shouldn't do that when actually this could be the perfect time to do something different uh

[00:23:00] and that seemingly bad thing that might be going on might actually be a good thing I like to believe

[00:23:08] in my ordinary walk of life as I'm doing things that if I see something that seems like it might be

[00:23:13] negative there could be a very good reason for it that could be helpful to me that I'm just not seeing

[00:23:17] right in that moment so I say to myself you know what that's good that's good right now that these

[00:23:23] prices are going up and this is going on or whatnot there must be a good reason for it

[00:23:28] that's going to be benefiting me in the future and if you can look at the eclipse that way as

[00:23:33] well and say hey we're going to have total darkness uh for a few minutes here that seems a little scary

[00:23:39] in the thought of it but that might be a good thing I don't know why it's a good thing but it

[00:23:44] might be a good thing when you're dealing with the law of attraction we're going to talk about

[00:23:48] laws just for a second uh the law of attraction is about bringing things into your existence

[00:23:55] with the power of positive thinking with going out of your comfort zone which trying to believe

[00:24:01] that maybe um and not only just believe but know that whatever it is you're trying to accomplish or

[00:24:07] achieve is already there is already with you so being able to look at perhaps something that

[00:24:13] you might be doing that might be sabotaging your success and say oh I didn't realize I was doing

[00:24:17] this and you know whatever that gives you more of an opportunity to change it and I believe that

[00:24:23] this eclipse is all about change and initiating change and taking action because the rule is happening

[00:24:29] and that's an astrological reason I believe that yeah I like that I like that a lot so you're

[00:24:35] teaching a class all about the eclipse I know you have reached out to tour groups that are

[00:24:40] bringing people into town you're expecting a big group I mean I've heard thousands of people

[00:24:46] have told me based off of my research I know you're gonna have you're gonna be at Lilydale

[00:24:52] the Lilydale assembly which for those that are not familiar you definitely want to Google it

[00:24:58] because it seems Lily and you know this better than I do Kimberly but Lilydale is supposed to be the

[00:25:03] heartbeat I guess of that spiritual community is that is that the right way to put it and with

[00:25:10] all these people they're gonna have people that are actually going to be in on location

[00:25:14] hearing from you but also they can appear they can actually attend via zoom but tell the audience

[00:25:20] what are you going to be teaching everyone that day so the title of the class is new moon

[00:25:26] in Aries the solar eclipse new power new you and it is an Aries and if you know anything at all about

[00:25:34] astrology Aries is a zodiac sign is the first sign of the zodiac and it's about who I am I am

[00:25:41] it's about you me it's about the individual and really taking a look at the individual and what

[00:25:47] we're doing ourselves and how we can actually take action it is a fire sign so how we can

[00:25:54] actually move toward what we want and who we really are and be true to ourselves so this new moon

[00:26:03] which is what's causing this eclipse to go across okay a new moon normally you don't see that in the

[00:26:09] night sky because it's the sun is completely blocked from it but that's a start of something

[00:26:15] when you have a new moon cycle it's great time to start something and here we're

[00:26:19] actually having an eclipse and a new moon and it's in Aries so it's a good time for you to start

[00:26:25] something start something you've been thinking about doing for a while you've been feeling passionate

[00:26:29] about and taking that risk and being courageous in doing so okay so this class it's it's April 7th

[00:26:38] so you purposely scheduled it the day before the actual eclipse so good 24 hours before we

[00:26:45] actually start seeing the changes with the moon and the sun I believe it's supposed to start at 204

[00:26:51] eastern time on the 8th your class is going to be held at 130 on the 7th so exactly 24 hours beforehand

[00:27:01] I would imagine your attendees are really looking to hear about this new you and the energy that

[00:27:07] that this can bring and everything else are you having anything are you do you having any

[00:27:13] surprises for anybody in the class mirror you are you actually saying you know what I think I

[00:27:18] want to hold off and actually maybe I have a few few zingers here that you definitely want to attend

[00:27:23] I mean knowing you and knowing how I know you I would imagine you'd probably have some type of a

[00:27:28] hook they try to get people to say hey look you know what I'm going to get a lot out of this

[00:27:32] but maybe get a little bit more in depth about about what your what you're teaching we're going

[00:27:37] to give people something to do at the moment of the eclipse nice I'm not going to tell you

[00:27:41] right now what that is but we are so that when you're experiencing that inspiring moment at I

[00:27:49] believe it's going to be 319 in the Buffalo Niagara region when we have complete totality for you know

[00:27:56] four or five minutes there that and it is going to go just like that so that you can meditate

[00:28:02] ahead of time you can say something during it that's going to help you that's going to add

[00:28:08] to your experience and then afterwards you can take that information and have a plan of action

[00:28:15] that's what we're going to be giving you by attending this class and it's going to be

[00:28:20] individualized for you even though we're going to have a thousand people attending

[00:28:24] by zoom or whatnot it's going to be easily accessible for anyone around the world to attend

[00:28:30] this class right there in lily dale new york yeah yeah I like that because I mean you have

[00:28:36] so many people that are interested in this they're coming to town on these I know there's a train

[00:28:42] it's leaving Penn station in New York you have buses of people people are flying into town

[00:28:47] they're spending money we already know that we already know we talked about it in the first

[00:28:51] block they the pop the GDP locally what that what it means is this one day event
