Bhagwan Ganapati or Ganesha is one of the most worshipped deities in India.
According to the legend, in the Treta Yuga, a boy named Ballal was born to a businessman named Kalyan and his wife Indumati. The boy was an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesha and usually worshiped stones as the Lord along with his friends. One day, when he was roaming in the forests, he saw a huge stone. He decorated the stone and worshiped the stone after idolizing it as Lord Ganesha.
Ballal and his friends were so engrossed in the devotion that they forgot to return to their homes. The parents complained to Kalyan about Ballal. Kalyan in his anger caught hold of Ballal and tied him to a tree. He was also beaten up badly. However, Ballal continued his worship. Lord Ganesha was impressed and gave him darshan as a Brahmin. Since then, the Lord came to be known as Ballal Vinayak or the Eeshwar (Lord) of Ballal.
The word Ashtvinayaka is a Sanskrit word that means Eight Ganeshas. These eight temples are located in different places, and all of them are considered ‘Swayambhu’ or self-originated. These deities are “jagrut,” which means they fulfill the wishes of their devotees.

बल्लाल और उसके दोस्त भक्ति में इतने मशगूल थे कि वे अपने घरों को लौटना ही भूल गए। माता-पिता ने कल्याण से बल्लाल की शिकायत की। कल्याण ने गुस्से में आकर बल्लाल को पकड़ लिया और उसे एक पेड़ से बांध दिया। उसकी भी बुरी तरह पिटाई की गई। हालांकि, बल्लाल ने अपनी पूजा जारी रखी। भगवान गणेश प्रभावित हुए और उन्हें एक ब्राह्मण के रूप में दर्शन दिए। तब से, भगवान को बल्लाल विनायक या बल्लाल के ईश्वर (भगवान) के रूप में जाना जाने लगा।
अष्टविनायक शब्द संस्कृत का शब्द है जिसका अर्थ है आठ गणेश। ये आठ मंदिर अलग-अलग जगहों पर स्थित हैं, और इन सभी को 'स्वयंभू' माना जाता है। ये देवता "जागृत" हैं, जिसका अर्थ है कि वे अपने भक्तों की इच्छाओं को पूरा करते हैं।
