Shashikala Saigal (née Jawalkar), better known by her first name, was an Indian film and television actress, who started her carreer in the 1940s and played supporting roles in hundreds of Bollywood films. She won a Filmfare award for her negative role in Aarti, Anupama, Phool Aur Patthar, Ayi Milan Ki Bela, Gumrah, Waqt, and Khubsoorat are her other notable films. Shashikala's played roles of either flighty and feisty bubbly woman or vamp. She also acted in few Television serials like Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai for Sony, Apnaapan for Zee TV, Dil Deke Dekho for Sab TV and Son Pari for Star Plus. She was awarded with the prestigious Padmashri Award in 2007. She breathed her last on April 4, 2021 in Mumbai.
