Raj Kumar, whose original name was Kulbhushan Pandit, was an Indian actor known for his unique dialogue delivery and hit dialogues. He appeared in the 1957 Oscar-nominated film Mother India and appeared in more than 70 Hindi films in a career spanning more than four decades. He was born in Balochistan. In the late 1940s, he moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) and became a sub-inspector in the Mumbai Police. His notable films include Waqt, Mother India, Paigam, Dil Ek Mandir, Hamraaz, Heer Ranza, Maryada, Lal Patthar, Pakeeja, Kudarat, Ek Nai Paheli, Saudagar, Tiranga and God and Gun in 1995 was his last film. He died on July 3, 1996 at the age of 69.
