VIDEO INTRODUCTION:
On the 1st of July 2026, a company is going to raise ₹585 crore on the Indian stock market. And this is not just any company — this is a business that investors dream about. It has ₹580 crore in revenue. It made ₹52 crore in profit. It is a practical MONOPOLY with almost zero competition. And it operates in a market that is projected to grow 15% every single year. On paper, this looks like the perfect IPO. But here's what nobody is telling you. Buried inside this 400-page DRHP is ONE sentence. And this sentence was written by the company's own auditor. After looking at Cordelia's 2024 numbers, the auditor wrote a warning that shocked us: this business may not survive.
Now think about that for a second. A profitable monopoly, growing market, near-zero competition? And when we pulled the thread, we discovered a shocking truth about India. India has one of the LONGEST coastlines in the world — 11,000 KILOMETRES of coast. And across ALL of that coast, India's entire cruise industry earns just $140 MILLION a year. Now look at Singapore. Singapore has just 193 KILOMETRES of coast — 60 TIMES less than India. But Singapore makes $3.6 BILLION from cruise tourism — that is 25 TIMES more than India. And it gets worse. The United States generates $65 BILLION from cruises. Americans are 570 TIMES more likely to take a cruise than Indians. India's cruise penetration is 0.01%. That is not a typo.
So we spent the last one week going deep into this paradox. And what we found is genuinely absurd. India — a country blessed with 11,000 KM of coastline, home to Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata, Goa, Visakhapatnam — has essentially BANNED itself from the sea for 60 years. Three invisible walls — tax laws, red tape, and something called the Cabotage Law — quietly killed our entire waterway economy before it could even be born. But here's the twist. The Modi government just launched something called the CRUISE BHARAT MISSION. Ten new cruise terminals. Cabotage laws relaxed. Tax walls broken. Four lakh new jobs targeted. And a plan to turn this industry into India's next ₹30,000 CRORE GOLDMINE.
So in this case study, I want to answer three questions that no Indian media company is asking. Why is CORDELIA — a profitable MONOPOLY — quietly in danger, according to its OWN auditor? Why did INDIA — a country with one of the world's longest coastlines — make ZERO progress in waterways for 60 years?
