F1 will NOT DITCH yo-yo racing | Future of F1 Racing | The Great F1 Fan Divide

"Yo-yo racing", yes, Formula 1 has a new term for overtaking and on-track battles induced by the new "battery management" racing in the 2026 F1 season.

This form of racing has split the fan base. The purist F1 fans, who prefer overtaking to still be a driver skill, are yet to accept yo-yo racing fully. Could this be the future of overtaking and racing in F1? Possibly, yes.

The new F1 fans absolutely love yo-yo-racing. After all, the conversation around racing and overtaking is simplified. It is no longer about late braking, faster entry or apex or exits or racing lines. It is mainly about "battery power". Does simpler-to-follow racing have more mass appeal?
