The RBI announced the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme Series IV for the fiscal year 2023-2024, which is open this week and will close on Friday, Feb 16th 2024.
And guess what, you can also get a DISCOUNT of Rs 50 per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made digitally.
SGBs are a great option to invest in gold, because you get to invest in gold digitally, don’t have to worry about storage, making or breaking costs, you get an EXTRA 2.5% return on it annual (in addition to any capital gain), and if you hold it to maturity (which is 8 years) the income on it and capital gains is ALL TAX FREE!
If you choose not to hold on to them for so long, you can trade your SGBs on the stock exchange after five years, giving you more flexibility!
Last but not least, you can even get instant loans approved against any SGBs you own (just like gold loans, but easier cause it’s all digital!).
